How Swedish fans said no to VAR.

Personally, I detest VAR. It was brought in to simplify close call decisions but, even those with all the technology, away from player/crowd distraction a Ref has to put up with, can't even get it right!

We seen some beautiful well worked goals, worldies, and just plain goal scoring all chalked off for a 'toe' or an 'elbow' and this is what's killing the game. Why not just leave it to the assistant Referee's and the Refs themselves to make the decisions.

There have been VAR mistakes that haven't been overturned so why not let the human eyes just go back to running the game?

I agree! It was brilliant and quick. You could make a case for the errors missed by VAR but on the whole it was well used.

Problem is (I've heard) that the automated offside that was used won't be the same. Something to do with Adidas holding the patent for the in ball sensors. PL don't use Adidas balls.

Except when there was a English referee and VAR team. Then we had the usual lengthy delay waiting for the (wrong?) decision.

There's that old phrase " if it's not broke, don't fix it"

You could argue that on occasion some ref decisions were " broke" but we've ended up not fixing it but replacing it with something equally " broken"

Var is an excitement sponge, it just sucks out the fun.
