Well, I don't like to single players out (honestly), but Tony Hackworth was surely the stuff of nightmares. I think we paid a lot of money for him & he arrived with huge expectations. After a game or two everybody was saying "uh... is this a joke?". What I saw of him playing, it was just like the proverbial fish mouth open disbelief.

Recall (allegedly) Bill Shankly: "He could not trap a bag of cement!"

He cost £100k plus and was on good money as he came from Leeds he was shocking player when you consider all that.

You only have to look at his career before/after us to see how bad he was.

Tony Hackworth has to be up there pure cr*p and cost quite abit of money / plus big salary questionable attitude as well none of that you could throw at Morias.

Arguably the worst permanent signing (not ability) in Notts history IMO

As I said in the original post, not about ability, what I ment was more about the events surrounding the player in his time here.

Truly awful and probably my most disliked Notts player (even more than Jemson), but if you go back a few more years, Warnock paying over £400K for Dave Robinson with knackered knees takes some beating. The bloke only played 3 games before retiring.

I remember Morias coming on against Woking and I thought he looked really promising. Then he came on in a game last season and he snatched at a chance which made me think this bloke’s no better than non league. It’s a big gap, which we found with our defenders last season.

I hope we’ve got a few lads lined up for midfield and up front.

Robinson was a shocker - didn’t we sue Peterborough?

My choice would be Stuart Rimmer - 200k from Watford and only played a handful of games for us in 1988-89 before moving on to Walsall.

I have one really bizarre random memory of Ricky Green. Back in those days there were no cones, coaches and routines, the pre-match warm up consisted of a couple of minutes where 3 or 4 balls were on the pitch and the players just took a few shots at the keeper. It was my first sighting of the newly signed Ricky Green, and I was keen to see what he offered. I swear he didn't touch the ball once in the warm up, and that was as good as it got!

He didn't do too bad at his other clubs. Looks again like the curse of Notts County.

For a Central Defender, his goals per game was quite good at Nots though .

For ability vs expectation Hackworth has to be the worst.
For a sheer lack of any ability, I would like to give you Andy White.
He somehow lost a foot in height when he jumped for a header.
I was always sure Laurie Dudfield would come good for us. I was wrong!
