It's been a long time since that happened against them at Tannadice, which in itself is a worry. 🙂

Nope can't agree. They are weak in several areas. This one is too close to call, could go either way.

No way that's the case. I don't know anyone that's thinking like this.

I'd bite my own hand off for another 6-2 😋

Both teams with multiple changes from last season so I've no idea who is making who favourites!? A definite 50/50 for me so we'll just have to see what Dundee United turns up on the day.

Every Dee i know is saying their good going forward but their defence is shockingly bad even worse than last season and that was their downfall then .
Full house at home we should be looking to go at them from teh get go and if we do I think we will win .

That's not what they are saying on their forum, pretty sure they haven't let in many during pre season or the (albeit weak) group

Midfield is the issue for us with Docherty not fit and Odada not upto speed while they have plenty legs with Mulligan, Sylla and McCowan presuming they go with what they did v Inverness

A few weeks down the line with Docherty and Odada both available then it would be a different story for us

Just thinking of other opening day derbies that spring to mind…

    1999
    United 2 - 1 Dundee
Skoldmark puts us 1-0 up, Falconer with the equaliser for the fun, then Ferraz with the winner.

    2001
    United 2 - 2 Dundee
Miller putting United ahead after missing a penalty, Sara and Gav Rae respond for the fun before Jim Hamilton equalises in stoppage time, sparking a frankly embarrassing pitch invasion.

I also had the 2-1 win for the fun in 2004 in my head but to turns out that was not the opening game, just our first home game.

When I saw the opening fixture, my first thought was draw. I don't think that would be a bad result. Certainly wouldn't bite anyone's hand off for it though.

I agree with the above. Just worth noting that despite them making top six they only won 1 game in the last 12 prem games last season including only a draw after the split at home to 10 man kilmarnock and a home defeat to St mirren., taking into account after the split they had a chance of euope and had the easiest 2 games at home there recent league form is woeful.
They have lost loan players since last season, I've no idea who they have signed but we have improved the squad with our signings and should fear nothing going into the Derby and the new players will relish thr atmosphere.

    This ^^^^^^^

Their cocky confidence is based on us being the same side as last season which as everyone can see (except them) we have strengthened considerably. Agree with Shedka about our midfield, could have done with 2 weeks more for Docherty and Odada, but Svelje Sibbald and Babunski would be just fine. It's swings and roundabouts as they're still in recruitment too.

I would not bite your hand off for a point. If that's how it ends fair enough. But I think we could edge this.
