I would have thought this is conducive to injuries?
Youth players as we have up to now, everyone should be ready for 90 now.

Are we really in "meltdown"? All I'm seeing is some valid concerns about the way our pre-season is going. We look short on numbers, we're not playing well against some poor teams, and we're lacking up front. Those who have seen the matches say we have no real style of play, and we're conceding late goals at an alarming rate. Hopefully the rose-tinted specs crew will be right, and it will all fall into place at Tranmere. I'm not convinced, and at the moment there is next to nothing coming from the club to raise optimism.

I’ve not been to any games this summer but what does the fitness levels look like? The last couple of years there has never been a concern over the fitness levels as it appeared we had a competent coach in place.
Nothing seems to be coming from within the club in terms of updates on players, kit, season ticket sales, even the updates on the pitch seem to have ceased it doesn’t help Maynard’s cause that the club seem apathetic this summer in their communication with supporters.
I would echo the sentiments of the above. The owners have been invisible, the updates few and far between, still no away kit, lack of signings, the 1st team squad info/ pics way out of date with no newbies on. It's almost as if they don't really care what we think starting the new season.

50/50 on this. Performances notably poor, not as good up top, not the huge improvement needed at the back. Where I depart from general opinion is that we are really short on numbers. Assuming we play 2 10’s behind a single striker which has generally been the case and excluding CB/RCB where I think we only have 3 to cover 2 positions I think we have 2 players for every position almost to the point of being able to identify a first 11 and their direct replacements. Whether they are good enough - my guess is not.

I normally try to remain fairly positive but must admit my optimism levels have gone a bit flat - For me it's more to do with how disjointed/disorganised and ill-prepared we seem to be at this stage of preseason and I think that's been reflected in our performances. As Mapperley pointed out above, the club simply don't seem ready at all and it just has a very odd feel to it all.

Isn’t there a restriction on the number of players that can be registered in an EFL squad?

The other thing is that we may have targets that will only become available once the selling/loaning club has settled on their own squad.

    Odd feel indeed.
Also a seemingly odd change of training venue to Grove Farm.
Lets hope it is because they are all on holiday. Have they had a reduction in staffing levels?
Apart from the players and coaching staff it feels like the Marie Celeste.
Hopefully 3 more signings before the end of the week to put our minds at rest.

So why didn't we do that with Macca/Morias?

We are allowed 22 players not including goalkeepers or anyone under the age of 21 at the start of the year. We are on 18 at the moment.
Don’t know about FFP or salary caps though.
Maybe we have spent too much on the pitch and/or The Nest.
