The stat posted from our regular statto was startling - that we’ve scored all of our goals in the first half and conceded all in the second half in the recent matches. Let’s hope this is due, as someone else said, to working the players hard on the previous day (though who’s to say that all of our opponents aren’t doing likewise?).

I’m not a big fan of this new 45 mins/60 mins “minutes in the legs” approach to PSFs, but maybe that’s me being a Luddite. I preferred it when we simply arranged more friendlies, including some that would be against lesser opposition and would feature “the squad players”, ensuring that everyone got 90 minutes.

The fact we’ve not been able to host a PSF at Meadow Lane has clearly not been ideal, but the club hasn’t helped with its lack of coverage (anyone seen any interviews from after the Boston game?). The most telling thing for me is that we only have this single thread to cover the entire pre-season like it’s some amorphous blob - can’t ever remember that happening before.

I view friendlies of any type very much in isolation. We have enough evidence that results and performances in the past aren’t a good guide to the season ahead.

As a previous overseas fan I would be very surprised if we have anything to be concerned about regarding coverage when the season starts.

The media team have been nothing short of fantastic for the last couple of seasons. I see no reason for that to change. I would be shocked and very disappointed if it somehow did.

That really sounds like you want him to fail and therefore Notts will struggle.

My issue with SM is he’s another “excuse” manager a la Ardley. That’s a telltale sign of insecurities and that he probably knows his limitations. In 18 months we seldom heard excuses from LW, just acknowledgement of a particular problem and a plan to solve it - which 99% of the time he did.

These type of comments are getting beyond tedious.

As fans, we are entitled to raise our concerns and doubts about owners, managers and players.

Suggesting folk actively want them to fail to ‘prove them right’ is absurd.

The scepticism and doubt surrounding Stuart Maynard is entirely justified, I think he should have gone well before the end of last season.

Yet if he comes good and we’re all celebrating come May I’d be absolutely delighted for him and happily eat my humble pie.

I can understand your concerns (you may well be right) and I think your last sentence is brilliant.
I would like to hear Durham and all the other doubters say the same.

Does it really need saying? I have said numerous times that I can't see Maynard being up the job but I would be ecstatic to be proved wrong.

This idea you have that supporters would want him to fail just to be proved right on a two-bob messageboard is a very weird one.

Why the need for a new striker?
How many players do you want to vie for that one position? Four? With another who can be recalled from loan? How will you keep them happy?
Why all the talk for a Macca replacement? Who would that be?
Has anyone who's touting Dajaune Brown actually seen him play?
If Jatta stays fit all season, would you be confident that he can do the business?
Which rival club has the best firepower? How does it compare?

I can understand the worry about Stuart Maynard and his lack of experience in the EFL
But importantly the players respect him
I really hope he gets things right
