I rate Berge technically good player but he has no pace chasing back , he carries the ball well and takes some stopping when he gets moving ( doesn’t do it enough though ).

However once we got him fit he’s the closest thing we’ve had to what I’d call a creative midfielder and I’ve been asking for around the last however many years on here - so actually losing him now would imo be a big loss.

Imo the same can be said of O’Shea I e just read some muppets opinion on O’Shea to Brentford saying he wouldn’t be a massive loss and we could carry the situation because we have the cover as good as O’Shea ( at this point I started to think what do we have - and I came to the conclusion not a lot ).

    Beyer injured
Al Dakhil - lightweight ( promise but not convinced ).
    Esteve - decent
Del croix - I’m unsure at this level
Ekdal - honest footballer but not quick
    Enough

So I’m back to my statement from the last ten years we need a solid centre back
A big strong centre mid who’s athletic and gets at people with / without the ball

I think we have the keeper covered and up front / 10 role and wide we have enough talent to deliver

So if Berge and O’Shea go unless we spend some money and find seasoned pros ( who cost money we struggle ).

I remember endless moans on here during the SD reign that we needed a big strong midfielder window after window. Now we have one it looks like we are going to sell him. This will end badly for us.

If Berge does go to United he'll be found out in no time, good player he may be, but he is far too lax defensively to survive in a team pushing for a Champions League place.

Another negative about Berge is that he doesn't have any goals in him

I’ve read all the above posts and all I can say is if it’s serious then he has more to his game than any of us have seen , no disrespect to him at all as an said I belief he’s a very good player

You can’t bma the lad at 4 million a season can you.

If Berge goes for £20m+, you'd expect us to have some names lined up in the £5-£10m region (or loans) to replace.

3 CM's is not enough and i'm sure we won't exit the window like that.

We should be starting tonight with a settled team that know how to play with each other. If no-one knows whether Berge is staying or going I'd call that unsettling.

Exactly, not enough quality options in the engine room for me. We will need to add quality to this area as a priority once Berge leaves.

Macnally came on today. I suppose he could fill in at centre back
