You down south get looked after better financially than the rest of the country in terms of public investment.

Perhaps if there wasn’t such as southern bias and money was more equally distributed it would be better for us poor saps living more northerly.

I don’t get the hype about London and wouldn’t ever want to live in or around the place.

I don’t think many Londoners would swop my place for where they’re living.

We moved up from London to the North and have never looked back. Much nicer people. Having worked and commuted every day to Camden - I now look back and think what a
s hit hole the place is - full of knife crime - a shocking police force and Khan who is one complete nomark!

Don't confuse London and 'The South' they are very different places. Investment in the infrastructure south of London is shockingly poor. For example the last slam door trains operated on SE railways. The London to Brighton Mway only goes part way and try to travel east-west from Suss ex. Nightmare.

I lived in both N & S London as a young man in the 80's and wouldn't swap that experience. But no way would I want to bring up a family or live in London now. But is it just London or does that apply to Brum,Manchester, Leeds or any other English inner city?

I do however love having easy access to both London and Brighton. So much going on in both places. We are regular visitors.

123 quoted London and that was primarily in my thoughts.

I think it’s widely accepted though that connectivity etc is far better in the south than the north and that more money goes into infrastructure such as this in the south in general.

As perhaps born out by the continued divide in today's A-level results between North and South?

    What about this then? https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2020-10-29...-wake-covid-19

Are European countries poorer because they didn’t leave the EU? No. Covid. But Covid had no impact here did it? We’re poorer because of Brexit. It’s always the same. Brexit will get the blame anytime something goes wrong here, but theres always a deathly silence when European countries struggle.

Our economy grew by 0.6% again last month, we aren’t doing that badly.

COVID supply issues changed the business world and the Ukraine war has had a massive financial affect across the whole of Europe.

    Brexit is an easy target.

That 'London was primarily in your thoughts' is exactly the point I was making which is people see London and the south as the same. If you think either the road and rail connections in Suss ex have more money going into their infrastructure than The North you are very much mistaken.

I can give you many examples here is just one. The large coastal towns of Eastbourne and Hastings are only 22 miles apart but to travel between the 2 is via a B Road and despite going through no other towns can take an hour. There's plenty of social deprivation in both.

How many on here have actually travelled south of the M25?
