    Chesterfield

The return of 'bad-boy' Ryan Colclough, who didn't really set the world alight despite what he thought of himself.
As for the Alex, well we still don't know what to expect after the crashing bore of Barrow and the much better but still scrappy attempt at Rotherham. I don't expect Chesterfield will sit back, which is always going to be a better situation for the Alex so they can make decisions more quickly. I think Chesterfield are still adjusting and our performance will depend on the formation. Having only one up will again cause a chasm to open up between the midfield and the forward line. We need people to take the ball into the opposition half and get runners in behind, not rely totally on long crossfield balls.
Still not certain about them and certainly don't have confidence in a high goal count so 1-1.

Sadly once again I anticipate another negative performance from our team leading to another loss. At the same time I have my fingers crossed hoping I am wrong.

It will be interesting to see our starting line-up today after what I would describe as an encouraging performance away at Rotherham with a vastly different starting 11. Holicek over Tabiner every day of the week for me. Long will get increased minutes. Same formation as Tuesday please. Colclough to score, I hope not. Good atmosphere. 1-1 for me. I hope that it is an enjoyable game as opposed to last week's bore.

4-0 down at HT and yet no comments from the regulars?

What does it take for the Chairman to say to LB and all the numerous managers and coaches we have to close the useless academy and btw take Mr Long with you that anybody that allows him a football contract based on last two seasons needs their heads examined...I. take it that LB is responsible but its time the people that pay them the wages makes a stand and a decision to end all this torture for the fans..any decent manager would have walked after two wins after 17 games...No, its up to the Board to take some responsibilty...Will they? Answers on a postcard! But it was the Chairman who appointed LB as the best manager for the job despite 50 odd applications from others..So that means head down and carry on regardless....Are we at the bottom of League 4 tonight despite over one million pounds being wasted here...

The fans who have just paid 25 quid or is it more than that be pleased?

Kindly remember that Chesterfield were non league last season...

Mind you we may win 5-4 and so all is right again...

What a disaster. Is this due to poor assessment of the incoming players for this season or down to the way the team is set up on the field of play?

The writing has been on the wall for years and yet the die hard fans and Directors and Chairman persist with a model that has been failing for a long time....A million pound academy and getting beat 5-0 at home...Good grief! If the Board and Fans are happy with the Status Quo and losing like this at home without doing anything then you give up...

Had I been manager, my resignation would have been given to the Chairman before the end of the game...How many managers and coaches have we got again?

I forgot to mention in the build up to this match, LB and I paraphrase said he could have signed some older more experienced players but he preferred the younger ones....And think he mentioned that our squad consisted mainly of younsters now and he goes and and takes another 20 year old on loan for a season....Other clubs must be laughing their socks off at the clubs and managers policy that thinks Pro footballers are juveniles....We got used to heavy defeats at home and so no surprise...The only benefit is I don't go to games and actually wouldn't ever pay to watch youth football..Point is they are just not good enough and why other clubs lend us players that are not good enough for their first team...

Anyway, I am taking a good rest from the site from now on which will please lots of you here...

Have to say today was awful ( so no accusations of rosy specs). It was over as a contest after 11 minutes.
The first was a fluke but probably set the tone. It also was the start of a horror show for Connolly whose poor control led to two of the early goals. After the first 2 games, it was clear we had weaknesses in the air in our own box. We have now conceded 5 goals from 8 from set plays. The very worrying thing is that MickeyD has also started poorly and so we need the other CHs to be a lot more solid than they have been in these games.
The other weird thing today was having 3 CMs but still being overrun and seemingly leaving loads of space for the opposition to stroke the ball around in.
It was right to give Conway MOTM because he got stuck in. He should have started.
I have to say that LB got his line-up and formation wrong from the beginning. He needs to squeeze the team up the pitch from the start. Having a single player up front plays against that idea. Hemmings also doesn't have legs. Why does Cooney still get picked ahead of anyone else? He's enthusiastic and runs but his lack of skill is obvious.
Some people around me were moaning about the GK but I couldn't see what he could do about such a leaky defence.
So, we should be playing a 3. Billington and Conway should start games as WBs. I would persevere with 3 in the middle and two up front. 1 of the latter should be Lankester who was willing and able to take on defenders but I'm at a loss about the other. I do think it shouldn't be Hemmings as I don't think the 'targetman' approach does us any favours.
I'm sure some will enjoy this humiliation but it was crap and almost a meaningless 75 minutes.
