Aren't you supposed to apologise after wetting the bed? These people might have more in common than they think

True, probably best I pipe down a touch as they were dark days for the board 😂 Though even the I’m labelled a club apologist by the definition given I’m certainly not one, I’d be happy losing 149-0 but god no to 150.

Yes that’s the foundation now to build on and I quite agree we are off the mark. For me last night set the bar and standard for a home performance that we should try to emulate each game. You make your own luck in football and perhaps on another day it would have been much closer a result as 2-1 as I’d predicted. That goal difference enhancement we have to take it.

The key as with any successful season will be how consistent will we be and that’s why it’s too early to tell and judge. On that one game alone it was a top end league two performance as the Grimsby fans allude to with individual performances of league one and above. Can we put in those performances at home and can players keep on form? That is the question that will get answered over the coming months.

What was promising about last night is this is the best we’ve been under SM and if it’s the worst we will be because they’ve not played together for long then the potential is there.

For me we just need to be careful about backing off when opposing teams run at our defence and defending those high balls into the six yard box and insuring that errors leading to goals from these do not undermine everything else that is good and promising.

Luck is just one of those things in football that you have to assume evens itself out. I don’t think there was much between the Fleetwood and Grimsby games in terms of performance, but in one of them we had loads of dangerous crosses and shots that were blocked and deflected just wide or just over or didn’t quite bounce for us, and in the other game the opposite happened.

Just had a look at their post-match summary thread, and it's generally pretty fair. Understandingly many are moaning about the officials, but mostly accepting that the best team won. A lot say that they don't know how Crowley and Jones are playing in League 2.

However, before a certain section of the fanbase climb back up their ivory tower and preach about how wrong everybody has been because we actually won last night, may I point that that we have only won once in our first four matches. That is far from spectacular. It is also arguable that we've only played "also rans" thus far, and, for me, the same issues about the squad remain. I won't repeat those issues because they've been done to death.

The next few days will provide a strong indication as to where this season is going. Flog Crowley and Jones - we're stuffed. Keep them and augment the squad to meet our deficiencies - we could have a strong season. Personally, I have huge doubts about Maynard but I hope he proves me wrong.

    Let's wait and see.
    Oh the irony..
It's now time to wait and see whereas before, whilst rubbishing everything from the owners to the manager and anything in between, everything was doom and gloom.it's a shame it wasn't time for patience then. Great result, awesome performance, but let's just wait and see how good we are.

    Pedro, I’ve not ‘rubbished’ anything.

I have raised legitimate concerns which you choose to belittle because you disagree with them. This is a tactic you regularly employ on this forum in attempt to get a reaction, so I won’t take it personally, but taking the moral high ground isn’t going to work.

I mean, minus the name calling that's what I come here to read, so I don't really want it dragged off into a thread. That handbags thing was about 90% irrelevant to football or notts the few times I attempted to read it...

If people could just say optimists and pessimists instead of apologists and bedwetters then it would be more pleasant reading and I think we'd all annoy each other a bit less.

Just my opinion as a midwit bedwetting apologist.
