    Aganas brilliance, Agana was comparable to JJ at that time but higher up and we all thought and Pavis too it was a no brainer, it was just one of them that went badly wrong. The Rideout signing came with question and he was amazing and no sooner we thought he was he was gone.

    I think the problem we had with Agana is that we wanted him to be a centre forward - Deane’s role at Sheff Utd - while his best position was probably on the wing. He definitely wasn’t a natural born goalscorer, as we discovered to our cost.

    Smalley and Davis were names that were always spoken in the same breath, though not in a good way. For a large section of the fan base those two represented the club's nadir until we were into our late 20s/early 30s - finishing just outside the play off zone in the 3rd tier.
    Incredible now when you think that was the worst many of us had ever seen.

    Definitely, be a while till we spend that sort of money again, probably the equivalent now of spending 2-3 million on a player.
