The problem was Deane seemed to benefit from
Aganas brilliance, Agana was comparable to JJ at that time but higher up and we all thought and Pavis too it was a no brainer, it was just one of them that went badly wrong. The Rideout signing came with question and he was amazing and no sooner we thought he was he was gone.

I don't want to be pedantic (especially about Forest), but I'm not sure these two played together much as Roy left Forest the same year PVH signed. Did you mean Collymore?

If we're talking dutch tho, what about the trio of Gullit, Van Basten and Rijkaard? Not only for their country, but for AC Milan too.

Or Romario and Bebeto up front for Brazil.

Yep Van Bastens goal in 98 was one of the best/frightening goals I’ve ever seen to the point I thought why can’t we do that.
Collymore was brilliant for Foest and didn’t matter who he played with he was that good. Probably one the most recent most famous duo was Andy Cole and Yorke, they were telepathic and Coley said as much. I don’t think Crowley and Jones are that way, they’re just extremely very good at this level and let’s enjoy them, hopefully beyond next week.

Grealish and McGregor were a lot of fun when playing together during that Derry season. Two ridiculous talents that complemented each other nicely.

I know it's pointing out the obvious, but Xavi and Iniesta is surely one of the greatest midfield duos of all time, although for perfect balance you should probably create a trio with Busquets in there as well. I doubt that will ever be topped, at least not for that style of play. They completely dominated domestic, European, and international football for a good few years, redefining the game in the process.

Love those examples...yes, you've definitely got to consider Xavi and Inesta a duo, and it takes some beating

France of Platini, Giresse, Tigana are around that level, but that's a trio or a superstar +2, whereas you can separate the likes of Busquets and Silva and you're left with the unbelievable Xavi and Glow-worm!

From earlier, why the hell didn't I think of Johnson and Draper? I think I know, but it's difficult to think of a more-loved pair of players than those two.
