Yes, on that form, given more freedom by SM, staying injury free and playing together....what price can you put on that buzz of excitement for 10,000 to enjoy all season long? Those two alone would keep happy customers coming through the gate and keep the buzz around the club.

We saw last season how quickly the vibe around a club can go from excited to depressed - keeping DC and JJ would certainly avoid that, they're that good.

Interesting point about SM as today I was talking to a fellow county fan. We were in agreement he was playing them two in the perfect positions whereas some would say their out of position, thats the glory of being into football and a fan.

To have more of the ball, that's probably right.
LW is a Notts legend, but there's no denying he was an ultra-positional coach and got the players to implement all the detail he passed on to them. And it worked. My take is that it only collapsed when we lost Palmer and Bostock at the same time. But there is another way to do it. When you have 2 skillful creators well above the level, giving them quite a bit more freedom to improvise and play off the cuff, could be even better

Yep, it’s probably similar to Grealish under Pep, like Crowleys role last season was cut that ball down the inside channel to Nemane on the byline or open up and swing a cross to the back post. The issue with that is some players have a bit more like Grealish and Crowley. Grealish has said Peps made him a better player but I miss the old Jack of playing with defences and going at them, really tough one to say which way is right.

I don't have any inside info but Macca's experience of going from being the main man here to getting 1 or 2 minutes with MFC at the death might help in any negotiation with Dan and JJ regarding extensions

I know what you mean mavericks aren’t really tolerated at the top level now Mourinho took the flair out of Joe Cole and same with Grealish.

Mourinho/Pep will point to them winning titles etc but I’d also say they have nearly always had the best squad with the biggest budget by far which helps.

Michael Owen made a point the other day and it got me thinking as usually he is beige but he said when he was breaking through there was more pure footballers like Le Tissier / Bergkamp he now said in the PL if you are big, strong and quick that can get you a contract for life pretty much, interesting thoughts and I think I kind of agree with him as game is much more tactical now which isn’t always great for fans.

Hardly see any wingers too at the highest level getting to byline and crossing seems to have gone from the game everyone wants to be Barcelona 2008.

It's an obsession with possession again. Leicester won the premier league title with an average of 30% possession. Needs to be less emphasis on having possession and making the possession count. Look at the Lincoln Mansfield game on Saturday, Lincoln won 4-1 having around 30% possession. They were 4x more effective with only a third of the possession. Teams (Notts included) hog possession but fear losing the ball because it means they'll normally get scored on, so they won't play players who have flair for fear of losing possession and then losing the game. They should be questioning why they aren't miles ahead in the first place with all the possession

Them wanting to stay is key and you'd imagine they want to be involved in a promotion bid (and not just languish in L2).
I think we're good for this window. We proved promotion credentials in the Grimsby game and won't play again til after it.

Then we'll have to keep proving it til the end of the Jan window.

I don’t think the club measures our success on our possession but a load of other metrics like xg against us and for. If you have the ball the most of time there is a stat that proves u win more. That said when we’ve played teams like Fleetwood and a lot of others I actually thought why don’t we let them have the ball for a bit and let them get up the pitch and then hit them off the break, probably a bit risky 😂😂😂

I definitely understand this point of view. But did a section of the fan base give him time last season when we had a bit of a bad run? Nope. Quite a few got stuck into him.

Not to mention the reaction from some quarters when he mentioned his faith in a post match press conference.
