I honestly believe most of our players have been doing the basics better for longer and on a more consistent basis than Darnell. At the same he's raised his game last season and this. It really is that simple.
Isn’t it amazing how the raising of the standards often comes at the point a contract is rapidly diminishing?

Given the massive improvements in Karlan Grant’s fitness level and work rate I note with interest he now has less than two years left on his contract.

At the recent rate of improvement I’m expecting him to be performing like Mo Salah a year from now!

We only differ on Furlong's starting point. Relative to what was around him I don't consider he was that bad. IMO in the last 2 and a bit seasons he's been our best defender albeit not much competition.

I can assure you I do not have impossibly high standards for our players. Perhaps just a bit higher than those who label them donkeys, or worse, or write them off after 1 appearance.

Fair enough. For reference I didn't write Darnell Furlong off following his first performance but even from those early days it was clear there was plenty of room for improvement.

And I've never referred to him as a donkey either. Deadly Darnell? Yes. Balloon Boots? Guilty as charged. Thankfully he appears to have recalibrated his feet over last season and this.

Long may the good form continue while he wears an Albion shirt. Ps. Like all our players he's only ever a heart beat from a horrendous mistake so there's always that to consider 😃.

Donkey, worse or knee jerk comments referred to some others on here rather than your good self.

Another Furlong supporter and always vocal with my commendations to him. We sit fairly close to him.
The only issue I see is the somewhat unnecessary fouls and according cards. Over exuberance and sometimes petulance maybe.
    (Not unlike Molumby)
Certainly pleased to have him and now Holgate to cover in case of need.
PS Let’s not forget the cannon throw !

That’s what impresses me about him, he’s like having 3 players. Holgate for example is just a defender. Furlong is a defender a connecting midfielder and a goal threat. Always there or thereabouts with a goal or an assist.
