Ismael wasn't given long enough, although I did have doubts about his style of football and the way he set up the team, I didn't see the logic in sacking him so early into a long contract when we were sitting in a play off position - to then appoint Bruce. Terrible decision making from the board at the time.

Agree with you on both! For me loved Big Dave in his playing days but God was he tactically inept and Shan afterwards was a pathetic appointment. Remember that squad was the best in the division and managed in a shambolic way! Such a shame!

Pullis ruined the club in his final year.

He had Gnabry and never used him despite us desperately needing a player that could carry the ball past the opposition in their half.

Rondon was shy te, he never even looked for the replacement we needed for Morrison despite having the main say on transfers.

We were playing six centre halves in the back four and two holding midfield positions at times.

It was the worst quality top level football I’ve ever watched at our club.

Pardew was no genius but at least he tried to attack and we won 3-2 at Liverpool in the cup.

    Pullis was a Cnut.

As 123 said Mick - Pulis did a job in the first season finishing 10th which was a great achievement with that side. He left due to a poor start and once the fans got on his back he wanted to be sacked as remember the game at Huddersfield.

The opposite of Pulis - Big Dave managed the team mainly in the championship and for me tactically f ucked up one of the best championship teams we ever had as he was tactically inept. Gayle on the wing and Barry at Leeds with no legs resulted us being humiliated that night like many matches. Pulis was disliked before he came to the club but Big Dave loved. For me I don’t buy into the like ability factor - I just want a ruthless top manager.

We should have walked that league with Big Dave there with that team and then the Board made another shocking decision by appointing rookie Shan who was Big Dave’s mate!

Pullis was a Cnut pure and simple.

Anyone who actively tries to get the sack is a complete and utter Cnut.

He was at the heart of our downfall along with Lai.

Tactics evolved to make the low block and long ball completely redundant. In that last Pulis season, you could see we weren't going to stay up on set piece goals and knicking a 1-0 win. Thing is, he would even do it at home against a relegation rival! It's now prehistoric and no premier league side plays that way. We had to move on from Pulis and just got the next few managers wrong.

Can’t agree with that Mick. We got some great results against the premier “big boys” with Pulis. He cemented us in the Prem. Inevitably as with all managers their final year goes sour which is why they get the sack. His football style was awful to watch but effective most of the time. I wouldn’t want a manager like that again though. Corberan is definitely the way to go. Hope your holiday is going well. 👍

Pulis was great in his first year and it was the Premier and we finished on the top ten. He had to go when he did in the following year.
I really like Corberon but was his football any more attractive last season than Pulis in his first year in the league below? Not for me as many matches last season were dire and it was the championship!

Got to give credit where credits due in the first season for Pulis!
