He had a very solid season overall (15 goals I think it was), and of course is responsible for one of the most iconic moments of our recent history.

Hopefully the injury isn't too serious. He's been getting himself into some good positions even in the limited time he's had coming on as a sub. Should have scored yesterday and was in the right position for a tap in late on against Grimsby, unfortunately Jodi's cross was just a fraction too close to the keeper.

I was surprised when we offered him an extension after his injury but maybe I’m being overly harsh. I said it at the time but I don’t see what attribute he has that will get goals at this level. He’s not particularly quick and not particularly strong.
It’s very hard for him to make an impact when he’s coming into a game that we’re just seeing out, that’s why it was such a big chance he missed yesterday. And to then get injured, you’ve just got to feel for the lad.
He seems to be a good professional and a likeable bloke. I really hope he proves me wrong but I don’t think he’s going to cut it at a team striving to be at the top end of this league.

Cedwyn Scott has been out for a year and in his first proper game back was dumped out wide on the left wing, which clearly isn't his position. He's then had a few substitute appearances that can only get you so far in terms of recovering match speed. He got in the right position for a chance yesterday but sadly put it wide, much to his frustration, but it's understandable due to his comparative lack of match sharpness.

Scott is unlucky that he's probably third in the queue for one place up front behind McGoldrick and Jatta at the present time, but there will be few if any teams in this league who have a striker as good as Cedwyn effectively sitting third in their depth chart. Just remember, he was only four goals behind Macauley Langstaff at Gateshead, he was a regular goalscorer for us in the National League, and he's young enough to come back strongly from the bad injury he suffered last year.

I know it's the football fan mentality - "What have you done for me lately?" - but fans really should be less ready to write-off good players, especially when those players have made such a significant contribution to get us here.
    .......Excellent post.

I think you can tell by the way he's moving around the pitch that he's desperate for some sustained, consistent game time. And I think it's only going to be sporadic at the moment with us. I still say a good loan for a while would do him the world of good. At some stage this season that could be really useful. Wasn't he also injured for a chunk of our promotion season as well? At his age, he can't really afford to have two and a half lost seasons without regular football.

The ball fell to him from a corner and he placed it wide from about 5 yards……or at least that’s how I remember it!?

I feel Scott has been a bit of a victim of circumstance whilst at Notts.

He came in with Macca and that pre-season, LW identified Macca as the centre forward, whereas the season before Scott had played centrally and Macca off the left. Scott had a good NL season. Good all round play and good goals return.

Get promoted, back in the League and bang, season ending injury. That sort of makes this season his ‘stepping up’ season, despite Notts having an actual season in L2. Scott missed it all with a serious injury, so it’s arguably doubly hard to get going this season.

Within the time he’s injured, Jatta comes in because the club is wary Macca will go. Obviously Didzy was here too. Scott’s a good footballer but simply isn’t as good as those two.

I genuinely think Scott can cut it at this level. Take Saturday in microcosm. If Scott is coming off a run of 5/6 games, he takes that chance and that smart, first time pass to Edwards slips perfectly into his path and we win 4-0, Scott has a brilliant 10 minute cameo.
