It was either a volley or half volley - I wouldn’t call it a sitter, exactly, as the ball was dropping to him in a crowded area, but if you hit the target you probably score. The biggest miss was Grant’s in the second half when he toe-poked it at the keeper.

Get promoted, back in the League and bang, season ending injury. That sort of makes this season his ‘stepping up’ season, despite Notts having an actual season in L2. Scott missed it all with a serious injury, so it’s arguably doubly hard to get going this season.

Within the time he’s injured, Jatta comes in because the club is wary Macca will go. Obviously Didzy was here too. Scott’s a good footballer but simply isn’t as good as those two.

I genuinely think Scott can cut it at this level. Take Saturday in microcosm. If Scott is coming off a run of 5/6 games, he takes that chance and that smart, first time pass to Edwards slips perfectly into his path and we win 4-0, Scott has a brilliant 10 minute cameo.
He deserves to be given a chance
Don't forget he was hurt while playing for us
I'm always surprised at how some fans have little empathy for players who get injured while representing their club
How would they feel if they sustained an injury at work?

At his age, he can't really afford to have two and a half lost seasons without regular football.
His injury is what will take him time and Palmer is the same too.

Scott will play those EFL Cup games to help build up sharpness and let’s be right less pressure as it’s not the end of the world if we lose.

He should be miles in front of Palmer tbf as he was deemed physically over his injury the last couple of games of last season. Whether he’s mentally over it’s another question but L2s another step up for him, I guess we just see how he gets on before Jan.

Cedwyn Scott has been out for a year and in his first proper game back was dumped out wide on the left wing, which clearly isn't his position. He's then had a few substitute appearances that can only get you so far in terms of recovering match speed. He got in the right position for a chance yesterday but sadly put it wide, much to his frustration, but it's understandable due to his comparative lack of match sharpness.

Scott is unlucky that he's probably third in the queue for one place up front behind McGoldrick and Jatta at the present time, but there will be few if any teams in this league who have a striker as good as Cedwyn effectively sitting third in their depth chart. Just remember, he was only four goals behind Macauley Langstaff at Gateshead, he was a regular goalscorer for us in the National League, and he's young enough to come back strongly from the bad injury he suffered last year.

I know it's the football fan mentality - "What have you done for me lately?" - but fans really should be less ready to write-off good players, especially when those players have made such a significant contribution to get us here.
Whilst I agree in part with giving him time, how long do we wait whilst trying to maintain a serious promotion push?

He came back towards the end of last season and had limited game time in 5 games and then a full pre season and 244 minutes so far this season to make an impact. In my opinion he has until January to make an impact or I'd be looking to make a change

With the best will in the world CS will be 3rd in the pecking order and I rather think he will slip down another place when we see what Brown can do (he looked sharp in the time he had on).

Think Scott will need a run of games somewhere on loan to get match sharpness, but also can't help but notice that Palmer also looked really slow around the pitch when he came on and also totally ducked out of 2 challenges where a player should put their foot in but where he was tentative post injury. Just shows that coming back from ACL injuries is not just about getting back into full training but needs some proper managing, so I feel for Scott as he doesn't have the good faith in the bank from fans like Palmer does in order to be given that time

Yeah maybe I’m being unfair, I’d need to see it again.
Certainly the feeling when it happened was it was a sitter.

Correct about Palmer I noticed it and it is understandable too it’s a hard injury to overcome mentally more than physically I’d say.

I’ve mentioned this several times before but after that pr*ck in goal for Everton did Van Djik when he came back he was not really engaging in tackles maybe to save himself for a World Cup as he has never played in one ?

Look at him now he looks the best CB in the premier league which he is imo.

Depends where you were sitting. Scotty came back to win the ball near the half way line in the Notts half.
Someone sitting behind me was heard to say that " he's done his groin ."
Scotty was clearly in a degree of pain / discomfort long before the final whistle.
Forced to stay on the pitch and being another case of "Deja Vue ?"
As for the comment posted at 9.13 am , I assume this was an attempt at humour rather than an example of being a proper supporter ?
