Agree. I have real doubts that Scott is up to this level, but would love him to grab a goal from somewhere to see if it gives him the confidence to kick on and show us what he’s capable of. Hopefully his injury is minor and he’s soon available.

Cedwyn has bee shafted. He has been played out on the wing, a position that is not suitable to his strengths. He is a centre forward full stop. Unfurtunately his game time is gong to be limited because of McGoldrick and Yatta. Given the opportunity he will score the goals. All this crap about him being not good enough is just rubbish. Ive seen what he is capable of, and those armchair fans that criticise him are talking out of their ar**

Needs a fair crack of the whip as a striker.

Maybe you’re right Durham, and I hope you are, but I just can’t see it. And I was of that opinion before his injury last season.
What I don’t get is how you conclude that Scott has been shafted but on the other hand will never say a positive thing about McGoldrick. He has also been played out of position for the majority of his time at Notts!

If he is purely a centre forward and can’t adapt to other attacking positions (and there is nothing wrong with that) then injury or no injury he could be in for a bit of a long wait with us rightly playing one central striker.

Jatta likely offers more in that role due to his physical capabilities and importantly proves he can regularly score at this level and McGoldrick is on fire and has a level of talent that none of the other centre forwards possess.

I don’t know anything about Brown as a player so don’t know if he can play the central role or is more flexible and plays out wide as reported at Rovers. Regardless I suspect Scott if fit will play in the cup games and be on the bench for league games.

With how Jatta and McGoldrick have performed in terms of scoring he can have no complaints. Just needs to work hard and be patient and take his opportunity when it arises. Definitely don’t want to see him play on the left too many more times. Unfair on him to do so but he’s a downgrade on our 1st and 2nd choices for the main man up top clearly.

Last season McGoldrick was a victim of Macca being in the team. like you say, He was continually played out of position just to accommodate him in the side, which at times reflected on his performance. This season he is playing where he best suited and has been a revelation.
This highlights my theory regarding Scott being played out of position, and the effect it has on his form...Playing square pegs in round holes doesn't work... As McGoldrick has proved.

McGoldrick has proven himself at the highest level. Scott hasn't scored a single league goal yet. I get your point, but just because Didzy is thriving as a striker doesn't mean Scott would. Scott is the third best option we have - I think that's pretty clear - so he'll have to wait his turn. I love the guy and think he was decent in the NL, but I have no idea if he has enough to be a quality striker at this level.

This does mean though that he will not get a start whilst the 2 main men are fit.
However Jatta has now missed another 2 games through injury.
He joined the club at the end of January but according to Transfermarkt he has featured in just 14 games and played a total of only 771 minutes.

I thought there was a fair few weeks where his work permit was being sorted and we didn't see him until later Feb / March. I'm not sure how many games he has been available for, but I feel he has played much more than he missed once he got here.

Didzy last season played as the left 10 and he’s played there before and midfield and when he signed he said he liked to play everywhere.
Scott when he signed also said he could play at 10 but I think the difference is that was at NLN level and when he played at 10 in the NL he wasn’t overly effective and 100% agree he should never have been on the left this season but I think that was down to very few players available.

I think with all the recruitment done now there’s no need for him on the left or even a number 10 so he’s going to have to prove himself as a number 9 at L2 level, he’s basically 3rd choice now.
