Dosent matter where he moved to or didn't move to.....he resigned, his stats were good, the sectarian abuse/bias he received whilst at Dens....no so much.

He'd already got the backs of Dundee fans up by his attitude at the end of his playing times with us then his steps of Ibrox 'show me the deeds' rant and was never going to be accepted as manager. Very clear from that where his allegiance lay, not at Dens. He had a decent record as manager statistically but, along with the guy that hired him, was generally very much disliked by the fans.

He did resign, you're absolutely correct. He resigned because he wasn't up to the task at hand (promotion) and, seemingly, was man enough to admit it which was just a face saver really. It was very much a case of jump before you're pushed because Hartley was already lined up.

Should never have had to resign because he should never have been hired in the first place. Absolute disgrace of an appointment for a club like ours.

History will say he had a good spell as Dundee manager, reality is that it was a terrible time to be a Dundee fan.

Sectarian abuse is never acceptable and no matter how bad any fan thought he was that, along with the 'side of mouth speaking' stuff, was deplorable.

You’ve lost or misunderstood me, I don’t think sponsorship of players should get you tickets and I can’t remember saying that

    Attitude fine

    Steps of Ibrox ....so what.

He supports rangers.......Lyle supports the dabs, Luke Celtic....so what.

He had the best of any Dundee manager this century B4 the Doc

    Disliked......as in " **** off you orange ******* "......shameful.

Left field appt on the cheap that worked out ok.

I was fine with being a Dundee fan at that time as I am now and as I was pre Bomber ❤️

Refusing to play for us after Rangers approached - attitude fine? Seriously?

OK, steps of Ibrox - more comedy gold to me than anything else but a lot of Dundee fans held it against him.

Luke never downed tools after Celtic showed an interest, hopefully Lyle wouldn't do so either.

Not arguing his record wasn't good.

The sectarian and personal stuff was disgraceful, not my way.

It wasn't a left field appointment, it was a poor appointment but then I've no idea what the realistic options were - probably cheap right enough.

I've always been fine with being a Dundee fan and always will be. But there have been times I've wished I'd never seen football - Bomber's tenure was one of those times but it ran deeper than simply who was manager at the time. To be fair anyone could have been appointed at that time and I'd still have seen that one person in particular was just very, very wrong for the club.
