    Kelly injured again

Received a text this morning saying Kelly is out injured and will not play for up to four weeks.

The sender is never far wrong but I’ll await the official announcement. If true that’s bad news considering his performance las Saturday.

Should he be out up to a month, will the club look for a ‘free’ agent or put Odoffin in midfield and sweeten things more for him by putting that contract on the table? Having read DerbyMiller’s post, they surely are pissing Hakeem about.

Kelly is a wonderful player but we all knew at this stage of his career we would do well to have him fit for 70% of the time and it is more likely 50% of games. Tiehi also seems to get a few knocks and miss a few games and if that includes this weekend it would be 3 games out of 6, he also missed the end of last season. We lost Lindsay and Rathbone in the summer and they are decent L1 players. McWilliams appears nowhere near the same quality of Tiehi and Kelly.

We left a gap of two players in the squad, more if you think of U21 options. Now i know we brought in a kid to cover us for the club developed criteria but that could have been covered by Hatton who came through the academy, the bottom line we had gaps in the squad.

Evans stated we would replace Rathbone we haven't, he stated that on the last day of the window the options were agreed with other clubs but he didn't want to meet the players demands, why it was left so late. Our COO has stated that the budget we have is very very good for L1 but we still can't fill the squad. All these statements don't stack up, somewhere in all of them someone isn't being accurate with their statements (that is being kind).

We are gambling on avoiding injuries and it is already coming back to bite us.

Might be a daft suggestion but now Raggetts supposedly fit again if need be could we put Humphries there in an emergency? He’s a lovely passer of the ball and likes to break forward when he can plus he’s got the defensive know how we’ve Reece James too who can play there but that weakens us at full back if Bramall comes in

My fault. I said to mate after Charlton game that Kelly would be the key player for us and if we can keep him fit for 80% of the games, he would be a key factor in us sneaking into the play offs. Sorry Leam.

If we've got to rely on Kelly it's looking worst than I thought! Only SE knows why we didn't replace Rathbone.

Well, he is a class act, surely you can see that? But yep, if we were relying on him to make a challenge then at his age, that was a very plaintive hope.

I thought SE had told us - he had people lined up at deadline but they hoiked their demands up and SE pulled the plug? Isn't that clear enough??

He looked good in that midfield at Charlton cause Odoffin he's better at centre back Powell was ineffective. SE had since start of the season to replace Rathbone we're short there now that's somebody's fault.
