Hindsight is a wonderful thing - Whist I obviously don't want him sacked on the one extreme, I'll refrain from singing his praises from the rooftops on the other just yet. He's made a solid start, far better then I expected and for that he deserves a lot of credit, I especially like the subs/formation changes he makes early on when the game is still there to be won, not when it's too late. His interviews are still a little dull but he can only answer the questions he's given - He's winning me over week on week, long may it continue.

From the moment SM arrived I felt it was unfair to judge him based on what he walked in to. For that reason I wanted him to stay and have a fair opportunity to prove what he can do.
I don’t think anyone can I say I told you so but what’s amusing are the usual, dare I say it, bedwetters stating that ticket sales will drop, players won’t be happy etc.
It’s the same as the owners are broke, we’re funding the Nest/New pitch, our new players are rubbish (before they’ve kicked a ball.)
You’d think people would learn to just chill and let things run their course. But they won’t. A defeat on Saturday and it will all stir up again!
ItÂ’s silly for the Maynard-in to be posting I told you so type posts itÂ’s even sillier for the Maynard-out to continue to abstain from appropriate praise for the head coach and recruitment team this season as itÂ’s far too early. After all we know what happened last season from a very similar position.
For me what the first 6 Games has taught us that the people judging Maynard on last seasonÂ’s half season were premature. The people who were using preseason friendly results as a guide to the season ahead were naive to say the least.
The fans that were prepared to give him a clean break fresh start and remove the bias in a motion from last season have been rewarded so far. He deserved a preseason new recruits and no hangover from the old boss.
ThatÂ’s all the first six games have shown. Whatever your view of Maynard at the end of last season is impressed and surprised everyone, right?
Sounds like you want your pie and eat it Pie Man. You were happy to say the majority on here didn’t have a clue with the consensus they were saying let’s set how the transfer window turns out and actually see what these players were like but you had wrote them off before a ball was kicked in anger. Now they’ve had a good start we need to assess at Christmas??
I’m not even saying we’re going to go on and get promoted but surely you can see the irony?
Some people are married to their ideas. I wanted him gone at one stage last season but delighted to reassess after the good results near the end of the season 😛
I'm an old ******* so these days don't get too carried away
But the one thing I said last season was that the players backed Maynard
They knew that Luke got an offer he couldn't refuse and that Maynard and his coaches were decent men who were doing their best in difficult circumstances
If Notts end up getting promoted this season then Maynard absolutely deserves the bulk of the credit. If it was all down to the owners and recruitment then it wouldn't have taken them 4 years to get out of the NL and either Ardley or Burchnall would have been placed on the same pedestal as LW.
Obviously it’s not all down to any one (owners, recruitment team or head coach). They are intrinsically linked and can’t be separated out.
If the owners aren’t fully committed or the recruitment is poor you can easily suggest it doesn’t matter who is the head coach and likely to have taken a lot longer than 4 years to get out. Scary thought.
Thankfully we got all 3 components right that season and fully deserved to be promoted.
