Macari 5 - Poor as well, looked shaky whenever put under pressure.

    Platt 6 - Did okay.

Bedeau 5.5 - See Platt. Marked down for another miss at the end.

Tsaroulla 4 - Missed two huge chances.

Jones 6 - Wasn't his usual self, certainly wasn't through a lack of effort but, as with everyone, wasn't on it today. Hope he isn't seriously injured.

Palmer 5 - Looked a shadow of the player he was before his injury. Looked slow, ponderous, and rarely got stuck in.

Abbott 4.5 - Looked like a 19 year old youth player today. Got stuck in early and was booked and then was totally anonymous after that, other than missing another massive chance.

Crowley 5 - Got on the ball a lot but was very ineffective with it, especially from set pieces.

Grant 3 - Woeful. Completely anonymous going forward and so weak and lacklustre defensively. God knows how he's still in the starting 11.

McGoldrick 5 - Needs to remember that he's own lone striker and stop dropping into midfield when we're attacking. So many times the ball went into the box and he was nowhere near it. And when he was we missed yet another chance.

Austin - 5 Did nothing other than give the ball away when he came on. Still think he'd offer a hell of a lot more than Grant.

Gordon 5 - Got into good positions but his final ball was usually poor.

Brown 5 - Gave the ball away a lot.

    Cundy N/A

Really poor and disappointing day today. For once I thought we'd turned a corner with our early season form but yet again notts let everyone down again with our worst performance thus far.
How have Notts let everyone down? It's the AGAIN bit that bothers me. We've had a good start to the season. We play a side doing as good as us and we're let down again you say.
For f'k sake! Get a grip

In my anger I described him as a statue but I think that’s being kind !
I'm not being facetious, I genuinely do not know what he is for.

I've got sour grapes. If the Referee had got the offsides correct it's 1-0 to Notts.

Given the level of the opposition, talk of bottling it, everyone being rubbish, letting us down etc is ridiculous even if it was a deserved 1-0 loss, let alone after a game that was the definition of a smash and grab and after being robbed by a combination of poor finishing and said bad officiating.

I’m actually more optimistic about our promotion chances after that - if that’s the best League Two has to offer, we should be right up there. They can’t have the ref playing for them every week.

The issue for me was the two attacking midfielders; we offered a threat from out wide throughout the game, but the two number 10s were Abbott - clearly out of position as nowhere near the level as when he was deeper - and Grant, who offered next to nothing. McGoldrick was then isolated and well shackled.

Brown didn’t really get into it either when he came on against a strong defence, but thought it was a bizarre decision to take off Tsaroulla who while missing chances was offering a threat and move Grant out wide, meaning they could put even more defensive onus on stopping Jones as they only had one wing to think about.

Gordon showed some promise when he was on, and it may be that we need him if Jones’ injury is as bad as it looked, but he needs to be on the right where he’s always played. Then when Jatta’s back would consider moving McGoldrick to where he played last season, as we need something in those areas if Crowley’s playing deeper.
Bang on and totally agree about Mcgoldrick going 10. Slightly concerned now at the. 2 10s, do we put Crowley back there, ironically him going there 2nd half and Jodi left which many were crying out for they both looked worse. That said with Grant struggling, Edwards injured its hard to look past Crowley but I do really like him roaming around deeper.

... what's up with our two star players, JJ , DC ... has their status within the club gone to their head, a little? Many times hogging possession. Last season they didn't take so many touches on the ball and guess what, now, every one else is tightly marked before they deem to pass. Perhaps someone needs a quiet word with theses much-loved players. Then perhaps they won't get clattered quite so much. COYP'S

Not Jones so much I think but certainly Crowley, but for better or worse that’s the way he plays and why he has found himself in league two instead of the prem or championship I guess. Perhaps he just can’t see the early pass early enough. We have to give players some leeway, they’re good for this level but there’s a reason they’re in league two.

Plus, it’s much easier to see the right pass from the stands!

I mentioned this in another thread McG running into acres of space Jodi and DC strutting their own stuff Jodi seems to be wanting to score himself all the time now. Which great if he does but he a loses a lot of team work doing it
It's still great we have both of them playing for us though.

I think the marks are a bit knee jerk and would have been different had we buried the 2sitters we missed before they scored and not had a few dodgy decisions go against us. On another day we win the game comfortably. I agree with opinions about Grant and not sure what he brings to the side but I still think when we get a settled side and players are fully fit we will be up there.

Both have a tendency to want to do too much, especially when we’re chasing a game.
