Thread: Gillingham ratings

There are some silly comments on this thread
We played well against a good side who performed a smash and grab for their goal then hung on for dear life
There was bugger all wrong with the equaliser that was ruled out as Brown didn't touch it, the excuse the lino used to rule it out
Jones had 2 or 3 men on him whenever he got the ball but kept trying things - even making a 60.metre sprint to win the ball back after losing it trying to create something
The tackle that injured him was malicious but the ref didn't even give a foul
The management team have said they want Jones to score more goals and yet some fans want to complain about it

Yep when we win and play well no one really goes over the top and says we’re going to win promotion but when we lose suddenly their a massive let down to some, no chance of promotion, certain players that have been good are suddenly not any good. It’s one game that didn’t go our way even though we played pretty well in patches. I guess that’s football forums for yer, like social media, the pessimists are always the loudest.

On the other hand we outplayed the division favorites and best team in the league. We struggled to create chances because they were very good.

We created more than enough chances to win the game, just the way the chips fall sometimes

Yeah, Kellan Gordon actually put in a few very decent crosses late in the game and was entitled to expect his team-mates to do more to get on the end of them. This could be his opportunity to break into the team and show what he can do.

A little unfair on Platt but that's your entitled opinion.
Throughout the 95 minutes Platt performed competently and was up the job, winning all of his aerial duels and many tackles on the ground too. A very strong performer in all his appearances so far.
A great improvement on last season together with Lewis and Jacob.
I only saw their "goal " live and from the Pavis stand family end couldn't comment either way on the validity.
The second rule of advice to all footballers is always play to the whistle .
The first being always keep an eye on the ball and players around you.

He performed well but that goal could have been saved. Watch the replay. He is also a fantastic improvement. However it appears that he didn't play to the whistle in that instance and neither did Bedeau.

Is that not more proof that their player was a yard offside? I agree players should play to the whistle but when there's a clear offside very few do.

Their goal was on side and sad to say ours was offside. The ball was flicked on (can only assume it was by Brown) and Austin was a yard off. However the time the linesman took to disallow it was a disgrace.if he thought it was onside why would he then change his mind to flag it off.? I cant believe the ref had a better view off the line than the lino!...
