Looks like Farage isn't the only MP then that doesn't like appearing in his/her constituency. Perhaps a full list should be drawn up, or is it just selective to accuse those we personally don't like, just to rock the boat?

To be fair, whatever you thought of Skinners ideals, he was a dedecated and passionate MP. He had no resevations of lashing anyone, either within party or out. Old school and certainly a non conformist with the pomp and lapping up all the freebies which has become the norm.

I think the way that woman was treated was outrageous and it is backed up by them having to pay her 10k in compo. This is the second time they have had to do so. She has been stabbed on speakers corner and no action taken.

The country is about free speech and none more than on speakers corner, where the gloves are off within the law.

I can show anyone the video if you like, it isn't pretty what she went through

The government has/is allowing this and in fact has fuelled it very recently with Stamers clamp down on naughty words on Twitter etc
As I pointed out earlier Tricky - only to have the post mysteriously removed - the two arrests of the lady in question took place long before Labour came to power. In fact I think Johnson was still PM at the time of both arrests, so it’s difficult/impossible to see how they can have anything to do with either the Election or your current obsession with Starmer and ‘two tier policing’.

I do believe the way she has been treated to be completely wrong, indeed I think the whole story shows religion at its most ridiculous, however she has, by her actions, set out to be enormously antagonistic.

I would agree with most of what you say there RA.
    I did type government(s).
Sorry, the bit I disagree with, is that two tier policing is very hot at the moment and Starmer is the one in power. He himself, made space in prisons, for naughty word offenders, by releasing convicted violent offenders, He himself has enpowered more of this sort of policing, where by the easist form of policing is being taken rather than dealing with the over all problem. The woman herself is in the news having just been awarded another 10k? Did they not learn the first time, as this money comes out of our pockets.

As for antagonistic, it seems she receives plenty of that herself and it is speakers corner. If you are within the boundaries of the law, then if you are offended, don't be there.
I was raised Christian and though I am none practising, still hold it as part of my make up. I certainly am not offended if someone mocks it, not do I feel the need to react if it is done either. The police, should be upholding the law, not reacting politically , or in fact sitting on their hands when they should be doing something.
Any government we have here, should be making this a corner stone of our nation.

I don’t think anyone comes out of the incident well, but my point is, it has nothing to do with either Starmer or the election.

Also, those who’ve attacked her need, imo, to be brought to justice, but she held up a copy of the Quran in front of a group of ‘believers’ and actually drilled holes in it. Personally I don’t think it warranted what happened at all, but while you and I might not be able to relate to that in terms of the Bible…if I turned up outside the City Ground and very publicly set fire to a Forest shirt/scarf/emblem I’d expect my fight or flight instincts to be severely tested.

Please rA, stop, any poster who quotes a internet conspiracy theory is simply beyond hope, there is no reasoning with them, they believe the bull**** because it suits their warped view of the world.

I mean if we are on about two tier justice, he isn't frothing at the mouth because 2 protesters who threw soup at a glass covered picture to draw attention to an issue which is and will affect us all, got much longer jail sentences than a high profile news presenter did for possessing images of child abuse.

Unfortunately the nuance and complications of life pass these people by and frankly it hurts my eyeballs to even catch a glimpse of Tricky’s nonsense.

Prison overcrowding leading to early release of prisoners. Cause? Possibly austerity measures allowing capacity to fall below needs.

    It's happened here too.

Asylum seekers. Austerity measures have seen the closure of all but 2 asylum centres. As there is no compulsion to house overflow, most councils are refusing to take any asylum seekers, even on a temporary basis. The result is that the main centre in ter Apel regularly exceeds its 2000 capacity and leads to the taxpayer funded centre getting fined €15K per day up to a (now reached) max of €1.5M. That goes to the local council. The current right wing Government has scrapped a bill from the previous centre right lot to enforce an even distribution over the country. That has helped councils not wanting refugees to stand a lot firmer against having any. Only last week, 150 were having to sleep outside the compound on the grass until a neighbouring council opened up a sports hall and put 150 beds in there.

Prisons. Austerity saw prisons close and staff sacked when there was an apparent excess of empty cells. The required prison capacity goes in waves, sometimes up, sometimes down. When it was down, closures happened. We are now in an upwards wave. We haven't copied the UK early release scheme, however. What we have done is keep the available cells for the more serious criminals. What happens to the others? No curfew, no ankle monitoring, no reporting to police stations. They are currently getting on with their lives. Will they serve the time they've been given? Yes, they will. It involves, mainly, people with sentences of 2 months or less and a few up to 3 months so no dangerous criminals. When a cell is likely to come free, they will get notice to report to the jail on a particular to serve their time. There are currently 3500 convicted people awaiting the call. The Government are currently in talks with Estonia, to have them serve their time there as Estonia currently has a much smaller than expected prison population. They, sensibly, are not going to shut prisons and sack staff. Over here they want to reopen some of the closed establishments and rehire the sacked staff, all of whom now have other jobs and don't want to return.

Might Estonia be a solution to the UK's current overcrowding issue?
