We could play for another 90 minutes and not have a chance! No cutting edge!
Hoping Soulman can post the highlights later tonight. I should have 20 seconds to spare!
That's as good a defensive display we will see this season. They blocked everything. Awful to watch but effective. 4th in the table going into the international break. Only 2 points off top. Still a lot to be glad about.
I really hate this ‘Southgate’ football, too slow, no creativity, utterly boring, Corberan is too conservative and lacking in ideas, if his idea of playing Diangana works then we are in trouble, I’d rather see young Whitwell
Only able to listen to this on WBA radio so difficult to really comment but seems that teams have figured out that our two main threats come from Fellows and Johnston setting up Maja and we haven't yet come up with a Plan B.
It's always difficult to break through a team that deliberately sets out to defend like this but it's ordinarily equally difficult to keep such defending up for 90 mins without making a mistake so credit where it is due, Millwall managed their game plan very well.
We all know possession isn't everything but with 79% of it, we should have got more out of the game. From the commentary it sounded like we still focus too much on playing out from the back and that our movement on the ball remains too ponderous and not incisive enough. Surely it's better to mix up the style of play and maybe we could have got some joy out of a few long ball's over the top? It's also a bit of a concern how few corners we manage to convert from.
To be fair, it sounded like both Johnston and Fellows tried more direct play but both were clearly frustrated by a well drilled Millwall side that had done their homework and targeted them which left Maja with little or no service. We need other options. From the commentary, Dobbin sounded like he might have something to offer when he came on. What do those who went to the game or managed a live stream think?
Poor passing - no cutting edge and Johnston and Diangana both poor. It’s quality that breaks down the opposition with so many behind the ball. Not going to knock Molumby but alongside Mowatt we need a creative player who can pull the strings like a Pereira or Krov or a Yacob. There is no one to pull the stings and that’s the problem!
Dobbin looked decent when he came on but again why take off Fellows? What’s super Jed going to do?
Just got back, grandson not at all happy.
Diangana was cr ap.
Mowatt sat too deep against a dreadfully limited opposition.
Johnston is the typical loan player who dupes you into signing him, really poor I thought, Grant needed to come on earlier.
Swift made a difference when he came on with his quick feet and faster passing.
A non event of a match where we weren’t brave enough on the ball.
Racic is a liability by the way, too much “Hollywood” passing, gives it away too cheaply.
Molumby was man of the match for me, the only one to show energy and drive.
