Defamatory how? He makes another howler, claiming his uncles experiance was very close to his heart. For someone claiming to have followed the whole episode closely, he doesn't even know the difference between a torpedo and an air launched bomb?
More like, he's on the ropes and attempts make his statement more personal and it blows up in his face.
Not for the first time either.
NB, I'll tell you the difference. I too followed that conflict extemely closely as a 16 year old. My best friends brother was in 2 para and took part in the slaughter at Goose Green.
Anyone with a vectored interest in that conflict, at the level he was claiming, certainly would know how Antelope met its doom.

A couple of months prior to the conflict, some of the crew of the Sheffield did a sponsored walk between Burton and Sheffield. The couple of days they spent in Burton, they drank in my local as one of their number was also a Winshill lad (he was on leave when they were sent to the Falklands so didn't go). 6 of them slept and ate at ours. 4 of them didn't come back.
Given the Uk election has passed, surely if "Or Red friend" wishes to continue his spurious and increasingly laughable attacks on labour (parroted by the way directly from GeeBeebies and other right wing media and internet sources so not even original thoughts). He should start another thread, though frankly I hope he doesn't as I don't wish to encourage his increasingly bizarre rants!
The focus of this thread should surely be on the upcoming US election, which despite certain claims from some that Trump's re-election wouldn't have much effect, is likely to be a pivotal event in world history.
Does it really matter who wins the US election? Genuine question.
Both are funded by the mega rich. All the "sponsors" will want something in return for their money.
One of the first things Trump did in 2017 was to give the rich tax breaks. The Democrats decried it. In 2020 Biden got in. Those tax breaks they decried have not been reversed. Most of the same rich folk that fund Trump, are funding Harris. There are some who only back one side. Whoever gets in there will be not many great changes. The rich folk that pay Trump will make sure he does what it is they want doing. Pretty much the reason why there's the thickness of a Rizla paper between the Red and Blue Tories in the UK.
It doesn't really matter for whom you vote, you get roughly the same crap thrown at you, whoever wins.
Tricky, defamation? Yes. Your comment makes it seem like his uncle wasn't on board the Antelope and that he lied in the Chamber. PMQs is a stressful (I nearly said taxing) time for any PM. If it then also gets emotional because it's close to home, a faux pas is always on the cards.
All over asocial media folk are posting to the effect that it was a down right lie and his Uncle wasn't aboard. Exactly the meaning of your post. THAT is defamation. So, in answer to your "defamation" question, absolutely YES!!
I take your point, MA…as I do about the UK’s ‘red and blue Tories’, but I believe, yes, it does matter when any reasonable person cannot help but have massive misgivings about this particular Republican candidate’s sanity, honesty, integrity, capability and attitude towards gender, race and equality.
Unaware his original post had been deleted. Hmmm....
His reply to me, post #1871, seems to point to him not accepting his post was defamatory. That, IMO, is his problem. Even when something is explained, factually, he doesn't seem capable of taking on board that he was wrong, that his thinking on the subject needs a little or a lot of tuning.
