Theres a few fans amidst our ranks that think Florist doing well is good for Notts !!! I don't see it myself and the quicker they fall like a lead balloon the better !!

I always have & probably always will dislike forest & the majority of their fans but tbh I am probably less bothered about them now than ever before. I believed that them getting promoted would spell disaster for us but it hasn't happened, maybe because the gap is now massive between us or because they are being greedy with prices our gates have gone up & it's great to see us getting more than our share of young fans, although I still smile every time they lose as long as they remain a million miles from challenging at the top(don't let their current position fool you) & survival is their idea of success let them get on with it I say. I honestly think the ideal would them to be struggling in the PL.

As long as they aren’t successful but stay there I do really think it benefits us.

Trying to put a positive spin on this is difficult. but there are examples of clubs going into the PL, doing enough to stay up and then having one or two really good seasons suggesting they might become a force or at least part of the furniture, expectations are raised but from that point on they can never do as well and everything begins to go into reverse when they realise they've banged their heads on a ceiling. Wolves might be in that process now having finished as high as 7th. In the last decade or two Stoke had a run of finishing 9th in the PL three seasons in a row but have now spent the last 6 seasons in the bottom half of tier 2. Leeds finished 9th, Sheff Utd also 9th, WBA 8th, Swansea 8th, Watford 11th, Birmingham 9th.

Hopefully this is similar, not seen any yet today but when I do they’ll be comments around pushing for a European spot and whilst the fall from grace wont be as quick as the Yeovil game it might be a long painful death throughout the season 😂

Quite a few of their fans can't get in to their matches. They can't get season tickets or because of other commitments or finances don't want one. Additionally it is not a good environment for their kids. What's their alternative? To come to the Lane.

So the more often they are at limited capacity we will benefit. If they drop down like a lead balloon we will lose out.

Additionally, and I'm sure UTM has the figures, in general historically when they've done well so have we. It certainly applied to the late 50's, the late 70's, and the past few years after we dropped to the NL.

Too right one of my favourite memories together with the PO defeats they suffered v Blackpool and Sheff Utd.
Just better than their League Cup defeat at Accrington Stanley.

Late 1950s was when they went into the top tier for the first time since the 1920s whilst we crashed into tier 4.

Speaking of the 50s, it's only recently occurred to me just how badly timed that relegation to tier 3 in 1958 was - the worst possible season to go down to that level because it was a unique situation for that one season only where every single side in tier 3, apart from us and Doncaster (who went down with us), had finished the previous season in the top half of the table and were used to winning - something that has never happened before or since in the FL. It's almost certainly no coincidence that Doncaster dropped straight through to tier 4 with us in those circumstances.

Our best and most promising period since then coincided with Fword's worst in over a decade, them dropping into tier 2 as we went up from tier 4 to tier 2 to overtake them.

Since they won the EC, we've tended to get promoted when they have but only because their success has massively contributed to us becoming a club roughly (on average) 30-40 places lower in the pyramid than we traditionally were, to the point where we've had success by default as one of the bigger fishes in a small pond.
