    Stevenage Post Match Thoughts

Sometimes it takes a bolt out of the blue to kickstart a season so maybe what happened around 70 minutes today will light our touch paper? It seemed that we were just muddling along to a repeat of Tuesday night when two of the most maligned players on the match thread popped up in quick succession to change events and ensure that the professor triumphed over his pupil. As a result we leapfrog today's opposition and are nearing mid-table.

    Thoughts?

Scrappy, team lacking in confidence but a team who are certainly better than the position they are currently in.

Walking out of the ground I had a glance at the match thread. Interesting to note that following the first goal, the posts all but dried up.

As the last poster on the matchthread said, the most dire 3 points ever seen. Now Evans on the radio drivelling on as usual.

I will go early. First 70 minutes was terrible and we shouldn't let the result mask the performance. The goal was very lucky but fair play to Hugill when he came on he looked better than he has. Wilks is selfish and not a team player, it was a great finnish and he will get 10 like that in a season, he will miss another 20 that are easier and miss at least as many potential assists. I suppose if he does that 10 times that isn't bad for a wide player, and if he was more of a team player he wouldn't be here. I thought Rafferty, Powell (except set pieces) and Jules were our best players and that is good a few players are starting to show something. I felt for Nombe he put a shift in and was so unlucky with the save before Wilks goal. Holmes did well when he came on. When this season has Evans got his team and formation right from the start? perhaps at Peterborough?
Positive, we have won, we have kept a clean sheet and Hugill has scored, let us hope we move forward from this point, a cup win and a point at Barnsley will be very good.

Not many positives to take from today's game. Hugill with a deflected goal and Wilks with another greedy goal that should never have gone in. He must drive his teammates crazy when he never passes the ball.

The NYS was deathly quiet today and with good reason. This was a far from convincing performance but Evans will sleep a little better tonight after the nadir of a performance at Orient. Bramhall and Powell had stinkers. They should not take any more direct free kicks. There have got to be better options. I called them out after Orient but to be fair I will give some praise today to Jules and especially Humphreys. Wilkes earned his crust today. The others? Can't think of anything good or bad which says a lot.

Very true about Bramall. He’s such a disappointment, all pace but zero composure.
