The list goes on and on - why didn't you mention those?

The idea behind the tariffs, to anyone who understands the reason behind them, is to force massive US corporations to invest in America or to stop them from moving their factories overseas.

This in turn will create US jobs and take people off welfare. The US is the biggest economy in the world and it has been decimated by Democrat policies over the last 30 years.

You have to have lived there or have close contacts in the US to understand why nearly 75 million people voted for him in 2020.

GM reducing production to nothing in Michigan, Apple making nearly all of their products in China, John Deere planning on closing their Pennsylvanian production plant and moving it to Mexico - again the list goes on and on. Trump threatened John Deere a few months ago with 200% tariffs if they moved to Mexico and they reversed their plans. See it works and he wasn't even President.

Just as you and many others on here find it unbelievable how anyone could vote for Trump, for me I can't understand why anyone wouldn't. I am connected to a large business and commerce company and to me, his plans all stack up - I really have given up on people who don't get it.

A strengthening dollar makes imports expensive - therefore, it's more cost effective to produce within the US - isn't THAT Trump's plan? The only thing that the US doesn't currently have is cheap energy - but he has a plan for that too. Incidentally his plan was also adopted by Kamala a few days after Trump announced it.
Why are you so confrontational? Was I rude to you? In any case I didn't see you actually contest any of the points I made, just some unwarranted assumptions about me and a laundry list of unrelated arguments.

By the way, a strong dollar does not make imports to the US more expensive. It's actually the opposite.

My bad - I apologise unreservedly over the dollar comment. It was a stupid mistake to make.

I didn't feel like I was being confrontational. Again, I apologise if I came across that way, it certainly wasn't my intention.

I was specifically referring to the comments that you were comparing Trump's comments about tariffs and deportations in the same way that they have been interpreted by the anti-Trump media and gave some examples of how the threat of tariffs would stop many US companies moving their businesses overseas.

I also couldn't see what relevance the deportation of illegal immigrants bore on the economy, apart from the fact that unscrupulous employers would have to employ legitimate people and pay them a legitimate wage.
