It was the same at Leeds after Revie left, albeit they should have won the European Cup within a year of his departure under Jimmy Adamson.
Fword also after Clough. Newcastle after Keegan.
When you've had somebody bigger than the club who eclipses its' history it seems to take well over a decade to get over the loss.
Liverpool might have suffered similarly had they replaced Shankly with an outsider instead of the continuity.
They fine managers for bringing the game into disrepute, they ought to fine Michael Oliver. Decisions like that do far more damage to the reputation and integrity of the game than a strongly worded post-match opinion. On what planet does Oliver think he's overturning a clear and obvious error in that instance? They cannot brush that off as an honest mistake, he's had time to look at it multiple times. People in regular work get sacked for not doing their jobs properly.
Very disappointed to see ETH sacked as he was doing a great job rather like Chris Hughton across the river.
Both should have been given more time !
Regarding joke penalties involving Man Utd it's very satisfying to see the "boot on the other foot " for a change especially in Fergie Time.
I'm still smarting from the penalty " won by Ince " after a fair challenge by Drapes in our home game 1991/92. That decision plus the Ronnie Rosenthal dive against Dean Thomas , played a significant part in Notts going down !
Not to mention the penalty we didn't get when Gary
Bailey broke Iain McCulloch's leg with a heavy " but adjudged fair ? " challenge against Man U.
That's the one, I could see his face and hear his voice but mixed up the name.
I'm really surprised that there isn't more of a fuss being made about the West Ham penalty, but then again a very sizeable portion of the Man Utd fanbase probably feel he's done them a favour by forcing the issue.
Who next for the Man U job? Thomas Frank?
Apparently he and Taylor are our top two refs.
Oliver's demand that (weak willed) Coote review the pen was appalling. As the 4th official he had plenty of time to look at it. Webb should throw him out for a couple of months. It was that bad.
Taylor's free kick against Arsenal for winning the ball against a defender making a back, thereby disallowing the 'goal' which could have won them the game was also outrageous. He only whistles once Havertz (I think) has won a header and a goal look odds on favourite. Couldn't we have waited or would a draw have suited a Citeh fan?
If these are our best, then why are we so surprised that those we get are often so far short of being up to scratch.
Mark Robins sacked by Coventry after more than 7 years.
Took them to within penalties of the Prem and one game away from FA Cup final last season.
'Former Manchester United striker Robins signed a new four-year contract in May 2023, but he was forced to part with his long-time number two Adi Viveash this summer, as the club appointed ex-Sky Blues midfielder George Boateng and Wolves development coach Carr to form a reshaped backroom team.'
Maybe not all down to him- looks like he had no choice in that decision.
