As with many things all is not as B&W as with Notts. Whilst my sympathies lie with Israel, their right to have a state (though it was done badly), the Palestinian (Iran's) obstinacy in agreeing to a Palestian state etc I am disgusted at the ever increasing violence towards civilians in Gaza and now Lebanon (was a friendly western facing country in my time). Obviously hindered by groups developing their command centres in civilian infrastructure whose sole purpose is to drive Israel out and get rid of a lot of Jews in the process.

A surprising development however is the recent fatwa denouncing the Oct 7th attacks in the first place:

The most prominent Islamic scholar in Gaza has issued a rare, powerful fatwa condemning Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack on Israel, which triggered the devastating war in the Palestinian territory.

I wonder how long Professor Dr Salman al-Dayah will now last.

The reaction by Israel to the 7th October is understandable but, as you say, the civilian casualties and deaths are not acceptable and beyond reproach. As for the fatwa, I read that yesterday and had a quick thought that his statement could pave the way to a resolution of the current conflict (?). Dr al-Dayah is well respected and has made a number of judgements is the past that have been well received but this one is a very brave statement.

Palestine were being offered two, non contiguous parcels of land, both of which had their water supply etc, at the whim of the Israelis.

This fatwah is all very well but it won't restore the lives or limbs of the poor souls affected, on both sides. I have very little expectation that many (any) of the hostages will come out of this alive either.
