The reaction by Israel to the 7th October is understandable but, as you say, the civilian casualties and deaths are not acceptable and beyond reproach. As for the fatwa, I read that yesterday and had a quick thought that his statement could pave the way to a resolution of the current conflict (?). Dr al-Dayah is well respected and has made a number of judgements is the past that have been well received but this one is a very brave statement.
