    In my opinion the penalty has to be given. The goal kick was taken and for some unknown reason Mings picks it up. It has nothing to do with the ‘spirit of the game.’ It’s hand ball and penalty. The mistake made by the referee was when Gabriel did the same thing and a penalty wasn’t awarded.

    Have to agree with Leicester and others. It was a penalty end of.

    I felt for Mings, it was an embarrassing error but there it is. Concentrate and know what is going on around you. Mings was watching what was going on ahead of him further up the field. Everyone else was looking at what was happening. The fact that Mings failed to see the kick had been taken is totally irrelevant. He could have easily tapped the ball back to the keeper anyway.

    Ref got it bang on.

    Sorry WCV but as much as I like to see English clubs do well they have to abide by the rules of the game.
