What do you expect, don't worry though, just like in America people see through the gas lighting and he'll be gone next time never to return.
Yes indeed, and the next Tory government. This is no left v right issue.
Whitney Webb.... "For all the people that still cheerlead for Javier Milei (Argentina), any comments on how his government has created a security agency to implement AI-driven "pre-crime"? Please explain to me how this is "libertad carajo", thanks.
For those that don't know, pre-crime was technically legalized under the last Trump administration via former AG Bill Barr. (Policy was continued and arguably expanded under Biden). JD Vance's benefactor Peter Thiel has major ties to firms seeking to implement pre-crime in the US, incl Palantir and the Thiel and Epstein-funded Carbyne"
Pre-crime, bloody hell, one step away from pre-thought!! Orwell was a hundred years out, it should have been 2084.
Hang on, someone banging on the door!!
I think the Milei story is a bit overblown. Every government monitors social media and online activities to identify those planning to engage in crime or terrorist activities. There are watchlists, and if police or security services believe they have sufficient evidence to move, they will do so before a crime is committed, with charges of "conspiracy to commit XYZ". It sounds very Orwellian, but I'd imagine AI is much more efficient at monitoring large amounts of online activity than humans. I'd imagine most countries already use algorithms in this case.
There are obvious risks that it could be abused by the state and that people would be afraid to speak their minds about anything, but hopefully that isn't the case. You'd think a libertarian would be less likely to oppress people via state apparatus than other politicians, but I guess we'll see. Power corrupts and all that.
Preventing crime should mean police on the streets, not intimidating harmless old people who've never been on the wrong side of the law for speculating about the motives of their government and behaviour of their police force. Very often folks online are over the target but turn out to be 75% correct rather 100% accurate, yet that will be enough for them to be in bother for spreading "disinformation". Online is just an extension of regular conversation but people are being held up to the standards MSM ought to be meeting, yet they get away with blatant propaganda.
The powers that be will use the excuse that "pre-crime" intervention prevents mass random shootings or whatever, but in reality it will be Joe Bloggs feeling the heat for posting and sharing information and opinions that disrupt the narrative.
As you insist on parodying Martin Niemoller, perhaps you should look at a few more of his more profound utterances
"Dear brother, fellow man, Jew, before you say anything, I say to you: I acknowledge my guilt and beg you to forgive me and my people for this sin.?
Perhaps the police should read this before the regular London Saturday Mob Fest
Well how long have law abiding citizens been asking for Mr Plod to be seen? Donkeys years! I live on the edge of a large city in the North West that attracts thousands of visitors every year. As a consequence of those visitors we have had a spate of very aggressive begging. Any sign of Mr Plod? Nope. Haven't seen a police person (real or Plastic) in the city in a very very long time.
