He holds the ball up well and links up play, but he is as likely to score today as I am.

If you look at the number of goals United have scored this season when VDS is on the pitch I think you'll see when he is involved and has support United largely score. I'd much rather have a player like VDS with his work ethic and intelligence than a sulking Tony Watt that drops the tools and complains why he isn't starting.

He's better than any other link up player we have by a country mile. He wins most of his battles. Genuinely baffles me people can't see what he brings to the team. Thankfully Goodwin can.

    Yea I really like VDS

However thinking more about it, it's likely we go back to the other system for this game so not sure he'll start, which is fine, either way wouldn't start Babunski either, just not the right game for him, not from the start anyway

He's not really a striker though is he,which is what he's meant to of been when we signed him. I can't even think of one single attempt on goal he's had,on or off target. He's a good midfield player perhaps but folk will always complain about a striker who never ever scores.

Glad im not alone. I get that VDS is good at holding the ball up, but im not so sure as many passes find their player as much as people think. Only seen 3 games, but against Ross County in the first half, i got kinda frustrated as the ball didnt stick to him as much as the hype had me believe.

Does need to add a goal or 2 to settle him.

He clearly likes to drop back into midfield and if that's the type of player he's going to be I'm absolutely fine with that, providing we are scoring enough goals as a team, which we are . He would have Dalby or Moult playing in front of him. Even in the Derby he was instrumental in that win how he bullied Sylla and while he had Thomson and Trapanivski supporting , who both scored.

His hold up play is excellent and he's a real menace for defenders. Except, he never looks like scoring. At the moment if say he's useful coming on to add to Dalby, who's been excellent.
