What?s the consensus on VAR these days? I know loads of people on here were up for it when it came in, the main idea being that it would make things fairer.

As it?s panned out for me it?s a big NO. The simple reason is that it?s sucked all of the spontaneity out of the game.

Watching the SPFL VAR review for the first time this week. What a farce. Every decision is like an episode of Judge Judy.

VAR has managed to get more decisions right than it gets wrong and is a vast improvement on the poor refereeing decisions that preceeded it. However, the system we are using seems inferior to other leagues and the technology takes longer to use. So the overall experience is far to time consuming and it's only as good as the operator. So I am all for VAR, but only if we have the best technology and operator using it. If we can't have that, then we shouldn't be using it in the way that we do.

It takes away the biggest thrill in football of scoring a goal, I'm always more muted now in my celebrations, a lot of mistakes it corrects are because refs deliberately hold back committing so var bails them out. They seem to take an age over straight forward decisions like our goal Saturday, automated offsides would help. Its still a lottery, always feel the sense of injustice far outweighs the feeling you get when you benefit, case being that Hibs pen and their non pen, what's the point in some guy million miles away deciding to randomly influence the game. I just thought that was sh1t. The championship was more visceral and enjoyable for not having var and letting go when you scored, not that I ever want to be back in the diddy league. I think the var use has improved a bit this season tbf.

Only my opinion but I dont think VAR should get a desicion wrong, but they do, if someone sitting in an office and can view the action at various speeds and angles and still get it wrong should be banned from the job.

Personally... I hate it. It's bad enough nowadays having to put up we this seemingly new thing... (Game Management) basically wasting time at a higher level. "spoiling the game" as some have admitted to. ( which is fair dooz, if we are 1-0 up at Ibrox )

Some take it to the extreme. But...still not as bad as waiting on a 3-5 minute decision, for what most times seems an obvious outcome. (like the Rangers hand ba' goal thingy) to be fair.......they tried thir best...

Fair-ish point. But.....ah cnut and thir doag knew the player had used hand/erm/erse before the goal.

Imagine a last ditch defensive tackle ending up we a broken leg (or even an attacking player) before VAR, for something that was totally obvious?

I know what your saying, that more than likely would have happened.

Iirc exactly that happened to John Stones for Citeh v Everton(?) a season or two ago - think he done his cruciate in or something.Madness.

I hate it, it's an absolute bore the fact your have no idea if a goal is a goal. It's not possible to judge offside properly they way we are trying to at the moment.

At the last Euros someone's toe was offside and they showed this great computer generated image to prove it. I've been writing software for over 30 years and I can tell you programmers aren't that good to enable precision like this.

Ultimately, for us in Scotland, all it means is another sub standard official gets to stick their oar into the mix.
