I do blame the person/people buying the tools. However, coming up to Christmas it would be easy for him to become the the fall guy to appease supporters calling for his head.
Here is where we are at the moment

Seven teams above us, there are 5 with games in hand. More importantly,
2 below us can overhaul us with games in hand, so we could be 10th if they all win up.
If they all played their matches in hand and won we could be 9 points behind a play off place??
I know it?s points in the bag, and I know we are still 8th with sight of the play off spot, but when you look at it, is potential 10th enough? ??

The board, looking at this MUST make ?back him? statements in January?? or based on how things are going ( and the possibility of the current squad suddenly battering all comers being slim with the same defence and strike force) we could be well out of it by the end of January.

Brum, Wrexham, Huddersfield WILL strengthen. Make no bones.
If we don?t in January, then the board have thrown the towel in.
You make some good points, personally I think 10 th would be realistic, last season we finished 6th , this season we have a weaker squad so to drop 4 places would be about right , we are no where near a promotion side and my main hope is that the board realise we are going backwards and decide to change tack and allow HC to actually build a side and give him the time to improve because clearly a quick return has now gone and we are gradually getting worse, so the only way to do it now is with a Birmingham type investment approach or allow someone to build towards our goal and support him in every way possible, I doubt it will be the investment route so lets try the patient approach.

In our house we have already decided to adopt the ?Let?s enjoy the afternoon out, and it will be what it will be?.. Don?t expect owt? approach for the rest of the season.

Is it realistic in today's football world and at a club like ourselves to believe it's possible to stick with a HC and build something ?

With all due respect Shad I think those days are over , firstly any decent player we unearth would be sold on , we may want to keep him but he's likely to want to go and earn better money .

Secondly whilst ever we reside in league one and aren't in the top 6 the fans won't have it because our history says we are underachieving , the gates drop , ST's don't get sold and the owners are then under huge pressure to react .

Just my opinion Shad , there are two outcomes in football today , it works or it doesn't , fans and owners may give you a certain amount of time but that's measured in months rather than season's .

I was going to reply to Shads with very similar words Animal. It doesn't mean i agree with it, but I accept that's how football is in this day and age. It's why it's losing its appeal. Doubleyou a n k

I take other peoples views and respect them but can anyone tell me how repeatedly sacking the manager with all the costs involved and then going through the recruitment fiasco only for the fans demanding a change as soon as things get sticky is working ? it certainly isn"t working for me , in fact last seasons shocking treatment of Collins and the laughing stock it made us look was the straw that broke the camels back for me , we either have to throw a load of cash at it for me which aint going to happen or we change tack and play the long game , we just cannot keep going on with the rinse and repeat strategy which is gradually pushing us down and further down .

It often doesn't work , it's a brutal business today but saying that the financial rewards are way greater than they were .

I wonder how much Jim Iley was on or even little Bobby Collins ? .

Collins shouldn't have got the sack I agree but that's the game today Shad unfortunately .

I?m expecting DC to get the sack.
Only thing that will prevent that from happening is the directors taking responsibility that they haven?t given DC a full hand of cards.

    As for other comments made:
We are not a selling club - and history as recent as last season proves that.
However - we do have a problem nailing down successful HCs.
It?s something I spoke about at a supporters trust meeting after Duff left.
As said then - we will not progress until we have a way of solving that problem.
We have struggled ever since Duff moved out.

OMG………! We are not a selling club……Absolutely PMSL! That’s only because Cole, Williams and Kane were out of contract, McAtee wasn’t ours and Styles didn’t want to be here last season!
Looking back from last season we have sold every asset we have at the first opportunity including managers!
We won’t sell anyone else for proper money because the players we have are not worth much.
Phillips is probably playing poorly because he missed out on a move to PNE and playing in the Championship, Captain Connell has been extremely poor this season, for one he isn’t a captain and this may be affecting his game as he spends most of his time pointing at his team mates telling them what to do, which is invariably wrong! His passing is abysmal, his shooting is wayward and for some reason he now believes he is the best set piece taker in the world, using the captaincy by waving others away at free kicks so he can hit the wall or blaze it wide! But what annoys me more than anything with him is the time he takes to take a corner or free kick with his OCD constantly placing the ball in a certain place, in a certain way before delivering a usually poor ball.
I hope that one of DC’s shake up’s is to give the captaincy to someone else and drop him for Nwakali who looks good but can’t get a start? And he may get the kick up the ar5e he needs?
Mael needs removing from that defence, we never look strong enough with him in it, give Pines a proper run and sign someone on loan and get shut of McCarthy who just isn’t good enough either.
A young poacher on loan from somewhere on top of this and we may have a chance?

Selling at the 1st opportunity ???
All the players mentioned had offers from other clubs last January - but were not allowed to be sold.
Instead we gave most of them away in the summer.
This was to give the club a crack at promotion.
Even though the club knew it wasn?t likely to happen under Collins.

We are the biggest sellers in the EFL , not only do we sell players at the drop of a hat we always sell and make profit out of any successful HC , that is another reason for constantly repeating the replacing of a HC , if one has a sticky patch they get rid , if one does well then we sell him to a rival club, we have absolutely no continuity and gradually this process produces a weaker squad year in and year out , if this continues we will be in the 4th division within 2 to 3 seasons , this has to stop but it won"t, lets be fair this lot would sell the tea lady if McDonalds made a bid . !!
