One of the biggest problems we’ve had since returning to the EFL is being able to control games like we could in the NL. We can have over 75 percent “possession” but still let the opposition have over 20 efforts on goal in a game. That defeats the whole object of being a possession-based side. Worse, we do very little with the ball offensively when we do actually have it.
yikes.
Part of LW's tactic was to wear the opposition down which worked when the opposition were not as fit as us and not as savvy as L2 teams.
One of the Prem team's manager bemoaned the fact that their possession in one of last week's games did not translate to a better result. A bit like praising Boycott for his length of time at the wicket.
Whilst I agree about Maynard, Montague is a director and he's going nowhere. The thing is, Maynard was such a bad appointment, the kind of appointment a child might have made, it's hard to see anything improving next time the 'bros' (who shall never be criticised for we must show eternal gratitude) pick someone on the basis they'll do as they're told.
To be fair, before Maynard, every manager or head coach they picked put us closer to the goal they want.
IB got us playing some good stuff but it was slow and turgid at times.
LW refined it further and got us playing some breathtaking attacking play but we struggled defensively in league 2.
SM is a downgrade on IB to be honest, very much in NA territory quite frankly. He's too busy trying to be or try and show he's clever in which the players don't know the system and he ends up looking like a complete t1t. LW with this defence and keeper would be clear quite frankly, I still say Moniz would be perfect for us right now. If he can get Stead playing ***y football, what could he do with this lot who are a talented bunch, let's be honest
