So, if the club have a philosophy, they have a certain style of what route they want to go down??
Ardley was obviously told how they wanted the team to play, that's why he struggled & we were dire, tippy tappy. That wasn't his style, same as Nolan, when wee Willy said he wanted fast attacking football, bums off seats. All the Coaches since, have played the same style of play.

Ardley wasn't their pick, they kept him on out of his loyalty to the club when he could have up sticks and leave. He wasn't a bad option for the situation we were in with no squad and no infrastructure set up. The reason he was "sacked" was because we had planned on replacing him with IB at the end of his contract but IB was getting attention elsewhere so they moved faster than planned.
Yes, they asked him to play in a certain way, as that was going to be the club philosophy moving forward, then since then, all the coaches picked played in a way that matched that philosophy. Only Ardley was "forced" and I don't think he was against it either to be honest
That all seems about right.
Thankfully, the club has the example of our most ultra keep-possession side yet getting a record points haul and promotion.
Fans critical of the overall approach should remember that. What drove me mad for decades was giving the ball away cheaply.
Moments like LW telling the fans why short corners were better have aged well IMO.
Interesting article here about the tactics of the most successful side (currently) in England:

I’d love to know what our corresponding stats are for how much we pass the ball in the defensive third. Too much, I’d guess, given our current results. This bit stood out for me re Liverpool:
“After 15 games in the league, the numbers show that Liverpool are looking to circulate the ball more in their own defensive third.
Last season, the Reds averaged 117.2 passes per game in their defensive third according to Opta, whereas this term that figure has gone up to 133 passes. A small tweak and Liverpool look all the better for it.
Slot's team are also attempting fewer shots in each match, down to 15.2 from 20.6 last season, which is perhaps another by-product of introducing a bit more control and conservatism into the system.
All of this is not to say that Liverpool do not still rely on transitions and a direct attack-led approach. Rather, the way they manufacture these advantageous scenarios for themselves has changed.”
Have it from a good source close to board members if the muppet loses against Bradford he?s a goner.
Fingers crossed
