It wasn?t that long ago Sheffield United and Leeds United were bumping about in the 2nd and 3rd tier.
They are now yo yo ing between the 2nd and 1st tier.
    That?s a revival.
    I wish we were.

As for Wednesday they have dropped on a great manager in Rohl.
After many years of doing nothing he has got Wednesday playing with a team of misfits and leftovers.
If they keep Rohl then they could finish in the top 8.
    That?s a revival.
I wish we had got him at Barnsley.
It is as clear as day that you do not know the history of these clubs other wise you would not come out with such rubbish, both Sheffield clubs traditionally have been top division clubs whilst Leeds history speaks for itself , Utd were in the premier league last season and Leeds were in the premier league the season before and the Owls are nothing more than a mid table team who the other week conceded 6 at home to Watford , now when these 3 teams return to the top flight and re- establish themselves on a regular basis then you can claim that they have pulled off a revival but currently they are all well below par for clubs of their size and history. I sincerely hope Utd make it back under their new ownership but it will take time , the Owls have got a lead weight around their neck in Chansiri and even the most staunch Wedneday fan will admit there is little or no chance of making any progress with him at the helm , whilst Leeds may eventually bounce back to be a force they have had chances in the past but have fluffed their lines , for these three clubs a few decent results is not a revival, a revival is a return and an established base in the top flight , all three are miles away from that .

? Jules - this is basically where I see us right now.
We are again being squeezed by our main business competitors for support as the Leeds and Sheffield clubs are showing a revival.?

What fecking part of ? even if we fill the ground twice over it wont be enough don?t you get?..?

A quote from the famous Jim Royle when he's talking to his son Anthony about the band he's joined and their pending venture to London to try and promote themselves.

Jim leans forward from his chair and says to Anthony very seriously-" I tell you what Lurch, if you play this right and that tape goes down a bloody storm, and you have the record companies like Warner and EMI fighting over you, throwing money at you, and promising you all kinds of untold wealth"

Anthony with a beaming smile excitedly replies "yeah"

Jims tone raises- "and they're both desperate to produce ya next album!"

    Anthony- "yeah!!"

Jim leans back in his chair- "ya know what happens next don't ya?"

Anthony puzzled, yet still with an excited look on his face- "what?"

Jim- "Ya bloody alarm clock goes off, ya wake up in ya bed, in ya own poxy bedroom, ya soft sod !!"

Jim's wife, Barbara disappointingly frowns and says- "oh Jim"

Jim- "well his head's full o bloody magic "

Anthony carries on peeling the spuds for their tea.

    A thy having that SB?

    An history lesson.

    Animal.
Present owners have run their course.
    Really ???
The present owners have been in charge for just 3 seasons.
They would dispute this and say this is only their 2nd season - as during the Duff season they were wrestling with events behind the scenes.

Yes I very much do understand the history of the Leeds and Sheffield clubs - probably better than most Barnsley supporters.
I know too well what Barnsley Blades think of Barnsley Football Club and Barnsley supporters.

We are talking about the events of history - not what happened a fotnit ago FGS !!!
We are talking about generations within families that have been drawn away from watching their own town club of Barnsley.

    Thanks for enlightening me!

The answer to my question by the way is 02/02/2000, almost 25 years ago. Yes, a generation ago. However, with Wednesday now in the midst of a 'revival' as you put it, then it won't be long before Wednesday and Man U lock horns once again in the Premier league and with hundreds of Barnsley fans jumping ship to get to Hillsborough

I haven?t looked at this board in a few days but as soon as I saw this match thread on 7 pages I could already guess what has happened.

I suppose it creates some light reading before work!
