That second half was as poor an attempt to come back into a game as i have seen in a while. Mansfield had not won at home since October, they were on a bad run and we shouldn't be coming away from that game with nothing in that manner. Yes we did ok in the first half but apart from Nombes excellent curling effort, that was an inch over the bar, we created no chances. We did not lose that game because of Nombe trying to defend a ball we lost it because our management and coaching team are so poor and limited. The conditions were the same for both teams and Mansfield dealt with them better than us.
I know people say footballers aren't bright but my god how dumb do you have to be, to keep kicking it long in that wind. McCart twice laid a ball back to the keeper and then ran away from him instead of going wide to give him an option. Surely at half time the players were told to not boot it long and to play it out, through midfield and to feet down the wings, for the front four to drop deeper to collect it.
I have no idea how JCH stayed on that pitch, 5 subs and he was still on. We needed players that can carry the ball and run with it, so where was Hungbo and Bramall, personal feelings about players affecting squad selection.
Praise to Powell who was our best player, put in a real shift and won some great tackles. Phillips did well in goal and James, Kelly were ok.
We do not do well away from NYS and the next two games are crucial because we have little chance of getting anything at Lincoln and Huddersfield.
Played 10 away (lost 6) from home only scored 6 goals and we are in the bottom 4 of the Away table, we have failed to score in 47% of games. Our home form is currently keeping us out of the overall bottom four, we have a points per game of 1.21 and 1.13 in the last 8 games (https://www.soccerstats.com/latest.asp?league=england3). This inability to get a result away from home has to be addressed very quickly.
We are a below average team as the average points across the league is 27.5 and we have 23. 3 coming in with players leaving will not address the issues at Rotherham United.
