Well reading this board over the years, the position seems to be:

1. If we sign a player who doesn't perform as anticipated then he should have been signed on a short contract (assuming that he would have been willing to accept that).
2. If we sign a player who does well, he should have been signed on a long contract with no automatic release clause and with a huge sell on clause (assuming that he would have been willing to accept that).
3. If we sell a successful player when the time remaining on his contract allows us to secure a fee we lack ambition.
4. If a good player leaves for nothing because his contract expires, we should have sold him when we could have secured a fee.
5. If we sell a player for a sum that the market deems appropriate we should have sold him for the monopoly money figure deemed appropriate on here.

Does that sum it up? So 'football knowledge' is a euphemism for possessing a crystal ball and an ability to meet unrealistic expectations?

Yep. In a nutshell. Human nature to always want what they don't have and when they do have it they want something different.

All that is spot on. If ever a player (or manager for that fact) does really well at Rotherham United, then we're going to lose them. We only have two options, sell them as early as possible to make the maximum on them, or use them to help us achieve a higher position then thank them for their service and wave them on their way. It's just how things are for a club of our size and until we become an established championship club or get bought out by somebody with very very deep pockets then it'll never change.

Paul Warne was lauded as being the same.....look what he did for the club on buttons. Having said that, and no disrespect to Joe but the bunch we have at the mo, would they be willing to listen to him? Moreover and being more realistic, TS would be looking for someone with a lot more managerial experience about them.

Just been checking Richard Wood's coaching badges, he received his UEFA [B] License
in the summer of 2023, then decided to put the coaching process on hold, after his
current club Doncaster Rovers offered him another 12 month contract.
Sadly a UEFA [A] license is required to coach in the EFL leagues.

On checking I took note that Billy Sharp [Doncaster Rovers] does have a UEFA [A] License,
to which he runs his own academy in Sheffield.
Could the pair link up at the NYS, players then getting striker & defence coaching at the
club, added benefit could be Billy Sharps academy, but I would think the Blades would
benefit from the academy.

I don't know why you would think that. Perhaps you should ask them.
All I know is, judging by comments on social media, a lot of people seem to have been upset at the way the club has been run for some time.

Nobody could doubt that its a bad time to be a Rotherham supporter at the moment. The disaster of the last season coupled with the dashing of expectations of a quick return to the Championship has taken it's toll, but anyone thinking the club is badly run should take a look around.

Supporters of, say, Lincoln City, Cambridge United and Northampton Town (amongst several others) would long for the times and league positions that Rotherham has enjoyed during the last 15 years. Do they all simply need people with 'football knowledge' on their boards? Have they all refused the overtures of wealthy investors too?
