Not sure PPG can be measured across seasons. For instance, this season, league 2 is weak as anything really whereas last year, it was considerably stronger with Wrexham and Stockport. Cheltenham and Port Vale aren't really similar quality really.

Was funny reading the Swansea board though, one post was asking why WBA can talk to LW without the clubs permission with zero irony 😂

I kind of understood last season where he tried to structurally make us more defensive but it backfired as we naturally scored less goals but still kept conceding daft goals.

I?ve never had a doubt the players aren?t playing for him though, he?s more or less had 100% effort from his players since he?s come in.
I think this is where data comes in too. Speaking to a friend here yesterday who follows baseball closely, he's saying sports stats usually turn out to be reliable indicators - if you give them enough time. The Reedtz will have loads of numbers on SM's career and will have worked out the likelihood of him coming good - eventually! Unusual amounts of injuries, bad luck, etc are likely to have an effect on results in the short term, but usually shouldn't define a season if the mgmt is any good.

I've never doubted the players believe in SM either. I really don't think good players will be 2nd in the league half way through the season without a good coach. Plus, the new signings we brought in all talked about how they were impressed with SM, and the high standard of coaching at Notts this season has been mentioned by many opposition managers - not just the high standard of player.

Swansea are no better off now with Williams compared to the last coach. I wouldnt be surprised if he is under pressure from the new American owners to improve results or go. West Brom are welcome to him,

Four points off play-offs in the Championship, something we can only dream about but not good enough for you.

I also honestly think if Williams had had the injury run we just stumbled through, in the promotion season we would never have got near promotion and half this board would have been piling into "Sack Williams" threads at the end of that season.

Remember when Williams started here most people were wondering what the hell the brothers were thinking with him, based on his (frankly lacklustre) prior record, me included, although I did adopt a "but it's the Brothers, let's give him the benefit of the doubt" approach.

With our current position I'm interested to see where SM can lead us by season's end, and calling for his sacking now or even three games ago was premature and never going to be something our current owners do. Unless of course they ran into a vastly better option somewhere, somehow.

I think after two managers in a row were poached by higher levels, and SM is clearly working out, we really do owe their judgement the benefit of the doubt at this point. I'm sure one day they'll appoint a dud manager if they remain owners of the club for long enough, but it sure hasn't happened yet.
    Hang on !!!
What's s sensible post like this doing on County Mad.? I think it's high time this was removed by the Mod.!!!

That is not actually true based on league position which is significantly better under Williams. If you are talking about the last permanent coach and not caretaker then Williams?s win percentage is also superior.

You may want him to be under pressure and fail but so far from a distance it doesn?t look like he is.

Tough league especially with such modest attendances and I suspect budget compared to many

Its a matter of opinion which we are all entitled to. I have my thoughts about him, and i believe he had run out of ideas and had no answer to the high press which most teams were then applying to us.. His philosophy was, you score 3 we will score 4.. albeit from extended corners..

and I think that was the only way he could play because recruitment had failed in the defence and goal. I also believe that the realisation that the squad was not capable of promotion played a part in him, and later on, Macca, in leaving.

He didnt have to keep playing it out from the back, knowing how many goals we were conceding.. But he did, and you can defend him as much as you like, but he never changed the tactic irrespective of recruitment ... Happy New year
