Romared Match Thoughts Barnsley v Wrexham

Well I've kept my powder dry for quite a while on our visitors tomorrow but I've an opinion or two on them so I may as well get it off my chest .

Never in my life have I seen such an overrated media love in because two Yank Hollywood actors rocked up a couple of years ago with a big bag of money .

I've nowt against Wrexham or their fans but dear me it borders on insanity the media love in with this lot .

Come back when you've been where we've been in our history , played some of the games we've played in and most of it achieved without a pot to pyss in .

Some of our history is proper Hollywood but here's the thing it actually happened in real time not because two fecking second rate Yank actors rocked up one day .

Have some of those apples Reynolds .

Absolute laughter and at the same time very true Animal.
All we want is for our lads to turn it on tomorrow and put this years horrible home form behind us.
A Happy / Healthy New Year to one and all !

Putting the politics aside, I'm looking forward to this game. The encounter at their place was a close game where each side laiked some decent stuff at times, although i thought we just edged it in terms of performance on the night. They then score a 30 yard worldy late on to win it as is normally the case when things ate going well for you.

They're probably the hardest working and fittest opposition I've seen us play so far this season. As i said on another thread, they keep it tight away from home only scoring 8 yet only conceding 8 in their 10 away games this season which have yielded 3 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats. Couple that with our poor home form and the most likely outcome is probably a draw. However, we're favourites according to the bookmakers @ 6/5 for a home victory and 21/10 for an away win.

Let's hope the weather is kind and the match takes place. Let's start 2025 off with a much needed home win and keep our mini run of victories going.

Our last two home games against Birmingham and Orient both ended in defeat with both games influenced by horrendous weather and once again we are faced by potentially awful conditions , hopefully we manage these conditions better than our opponents as I see this being key to the outcome , we shall see because we need to find some home form and find it fast , lets hope we start today .

It's always been about money and who has it at a particular time.

Gone are the days when big attendances were a measure of the stature of a club.

From Russian money at Chelsea, through to Middle East oil wealth, through to American money, Indian and Far Eastern money all wishing to buy some reflected glory from football club ownership.

Barnsley fans cannot take the moral high ground. The vast majority were salivating at the prospect of a said 8 billion of riches of Chinese /American money and about how we would blow other clubs out of the water backed by such investment.

I would have fallen short of a 10 part Netflix series made about us because we were in the National League though SB to be fair .

Talking to Barnsley fans I didn?t get the impression that they were expecting Chien Lee to pump millions into transfer fees.
    I know I didn?t.
What the general consensus was is that Barnsley would become more competitive by not giving players away and also bidding for players such as
    Trippier
    Pearson
    Drinkwater
    Etc etc etc.

Which has more or less what has happened eg Dunn.

?We arn?t going to go crazy? - which was said at the launch still holds true today.

Excellent performance in the first half. Two real quality goals. Good intense pressing from us too. Keep it going lads and get those 3 points
