Matchday Thread: Bristol City v Rams

We've played better than the result suggests a few times recently, but results are what counts.

Scruffy 1-0 win preferred to undeserved 1-0 loss? I think so

We've been playing well and unlucky to not take something from last 2 outings. I'll go for a plucky win, 1-0 Derby, with a boring / unconvincing performance.

This is one we ought to win, for me. For the reverse fixture they were several points and places ahead of us and we did them 3-0. Points and places are relatively similar to where they were for the home game. Derby win.

Not sure how unlucky we’ve been. Deserved a point against Luton. Rode our luck to get all three against WBA. Flattered by the 0-1 against Leeds and maybe, with better finishing, were worth a point against Wednesday. So 3 points from the last 12 seems about right and if they’d come in the form of three draws rather than a single win then no one could really complain.

Either way, the joy of Portsmouth just three weeks ago seems a long way off and we really need something tomorrow. All 3 points would be great and I don’t care how boring or unconvincing it might be, but I’m going fingers crossed for a 1-1…if we start with the right selection.

Blimey, you not over positive are you? Given where Derby have come from, we are doing as expected. Interesting how the stats against The owls suggest we had more of the game and certainly more shots, but shipped 3 goals. Against Leeds the we nearly achieved a shut out against the best resourced side in the championship, sure the stats suggest Leeds bossed the game, but the team stuck valiantly to their jobs and a draw would not have been undeserved.

To suggest derby were "lucky" against the baggies is a little demeaning to the team, they played well against a stronger team and ran out deserved winners, it can't always be the case that when we achieve a result against the odds its down to "luck" and when we lose unexpectedly its poor play.

Anyway, against Brizzle, I'm going for a 2-1 win and RA will either be smiling or claiming we "fluked" it.

Tbf, Swale, I haven’t said we fluked anything. I think we’ve done okay. We certainly haven’t been disgraced, even against Leeds, but in all honesty the score line was flattering to us. You’re right about the Wednesday stats but equally the Luton stats were hugely in their favour and I didn’t say we were ‘lucky’ against WBA, I said we ‘rode our luck’, meaning we took our chances, they didn’t. Bit like Wednesday in reverse.

Make no mistake, if we get that 1-2 win tomorrow I’ll be smiling and I won’t care one jot if it’s fortunate. Fact is though, we are now on the edge of a relegation battle. Portsmouth apart our results over the last 2-3 months have been relegation form. All the arguments about us being comparatively under resourced are valid and the lack of luck has had more to do with injuries (Ozoh, Nyambe and Cashin) than anything else imo, but at the risk of stating the obvious, we really do need a couple of successful/inspirational acquisitions over the next four weeks. Hope it can happen and sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately, I do not have Swale's confidence in our ability to beat Brizzle, after all it's away and we are of chocolate fireguard standard on our travels.
    3-1 defeat.

Out of interest, if we are allowed to discuss and please remove if not Andy, but what do people tend to do for these non sky matches.

Appreciate MA probably legally watches Rams TV, do others hop on a 'short flight' to buy a pass, or watch elsewhere on the less legitimate websites or modded firesticks?

I usually watch via my RamsTV subscription. Some games aren't available here because Viaplay have bought the rights but don't often actually broadcast the Rams games. However, if some tinpot broadcaster in Outer Mongolia has the game on then DCFC aren't allowed to broadcast it in the Neheterlands. I have spoken to both DCFC and the EFL about this, asking why it is. I perfectly understand that, if Viaplay are broadcasting the game in the Netherlands, I can't watch it via RamsTV. Their replies were the same. It's because it's in the contract. I then asked why is it in the contract as it's a total nonsense. No reply from either on that one.

I have been to Spain quite a bit recently otherwise I could have found myself in a "sticky" situation.
