Can we afford to do that, though? I’d argue that the academy is only going to work if we’re able to attract a better quality of youngster from the start of the process, then train them in “the Notts County way” of playing. Along the way we’ll lose the best ones to Premier League sides, but that might help pay for the academy.

The bottom line is that we’ve never had a reputation for being a club that produces players (with the odd exception over the decades), so it’s going to take a major commitment to try to turn that around.

Randall certainly one of the few that radar failed with. Injury didn?t help though.

Not such a good day for Kyle Cameron, he came off on 30 minutes with a dislocated shoulder.

Not quite an ex-player, but I had no idea that one of our ex-managers is an international manager - Chris Kiwomya at the British Virgin Islands.

Fun story on English int’l managers here:

Wasn't Randall more of a Luke Williams pick, dating back to their time at Swindon? I suppose it still had to be sanctioned though.

Reminds me of when Colin Murphy briefly managed Vietnam during his peregrinations after leaving us.
Although his programme notes proved equally baffling to them, even when translated, the locals still considered it a Nguyen-Nguyen situation.

Watching Sheff U v Cardiff and good to see that Kion Etete got a start as I think he?d been injured. Subbed at half-time though, so I didn?t see him as only switched on for 2nd half. Joel Bagan also in the Cardiff 11.
