At the end of the day he has to come across as positive an believing that we can climb the table. Remember we have lost two young players already and potentially another leaving early, he has to sell the club and himself to any new recruits. Agents will be giving these potential signings their view on Rotherham, they will ensure their players know what they are getting into, I don't buy the idea that footballers only care about money, they want to play, they want success and they want to feel wanted, they are only human.
What bugs me in any interview he gives is this blaming others, talking about the last two years not talking about the aims and goals of the club.

He ''guaranteed'' that we would challenge for promotion. He stated that, several times, during the summer whilst blaming everything and everybody for the state the club was in.He also said that had he been appointed earlier we would not have been relegated. No one thought this season would end up such a disaster based upon the things that were stated via the media. Having said all that,I think we have no other option but to give him another Summer. We are not going to go down, there is no obvious stand out replacement and TS nailed his colours firmly to the mast when reappointing him.Reputations, ego, egg on one's face.....call it what you want but many managers have been sacked this season for far less.Evans is a lucky guy.

Manchester United were once on the brink of sacking Alex Ferguson when he failed to bring immediate success. Great move that would have been

In a way I'm glad we haven't sacked him after a short time, but that's largely nothing to do with Evans.

Clubs get saddled with the cost of ending contracts, and we have neither the revenue to keep offsetting that nor the owner who is prepared to spend more than he'll recoup in a sale.

We went down a different route with Taylor and didn't give it time to yield results. Even more so with LR. Views on these guys aside to an extent, if we offered them no time, it's believable we also didn't fund them as may have been alluded to when they were hired. Changing direction also revealed a gaping hole in our ability to execute a quick and meaningful change, especially after Taylor.

We also end up with squads full of players who weren't brought in for the same reasons. This is proving to be a hurdle now with the likes of Hugill weighing heavily on our payroll. It can also create conflict, but we can only guess at how that has impacted us.

I still think Evans is wrong for the club, isn't good for us in the medium to long term, and personally I don't think he's a decent person, but there is no scenario I see where he goes now and we get the right fit in and give them freedom to start making changes to get us back on track. This season is fluffed, we're miles off challenging to go up but thankfully there are proving to be enough teams in dire form we can keep ourselves safe by beating. Changes should come in the spring, but to someone younger, less of an ego manic... and someone fans give time to, and the owner affords finance and autonomy. There is an increasing argument to be made for a "non manager" too, given how many examples there have been in the last few years where people get their first managerial role and absolutely flourish.

The lack of support on here for SE isn’t representative of the entire fan base. Keep that in mind. This place is an echo chamber for the self-righteous Evans haters who try and vilify him and characterise his behaviour as “shameful”. Yes, a word banned around for his pitch-side antics.

Despite a poor campaign so far he deserves more time to build the side and ethos in his style. And, with the hierarchy we have and the clear lack of strategy and future vision, he is absolutely the right person. Folly to think we bring in a young manager to develop players when the infrastructure does not exist and never will under TS.
