The Tories suddenly calling for one, why weren't they before? And I agree Phillips isn't coming out of this well.

For me though it's a topic that shouldn't involve musk, I 100% believe his interest is purely a political one, to apply pressure on the current government, for his own benefit.

Calling for Phillips to be jailed and for Charles to dissolve parliament are frankly ridiculous.

It is very clear these poor victims have been failed, at multiple points. But anyone calling for an enquiry should be doing it for the right reasons, not personal or political gain.
The Tories DID hold an inquiry into the grooming/rape gangs. It took SEVEN years and cost some ?200M. The report came up with 20+ recommendations. The Blue Tories implemented zero of those recommendations. According to Wes Streeting on LauraK this morning, the Red ones are currently working on some of those recommendations. I hope he's right.

IMO, we don't need to spaff more money up the wall on a 2nd inquiry when there's a report that cost ?200M recommending 20+ actions to take. What we need is for the current HMG to start implementing the recommendations from that expensive report from the inquiry that has been left to rot up until now.

Sith, I wasn't having a go at you personally. I've seen others on here transpose the 2 words and decided to try and help distinguish.

    Here in lies the problem.

Politics/votes/ being scared over rides justice and the law.

The councils/ the police/ the social services/ politicians knew for years what was going on, but failed to act or blow the whistle.
Some of these girls were as young as 11, it isn't just a *** crime, its kiddly fiddling en masse and the thousands of victims deserve justice.
Well its time to name / shame/ prosecute those involved.

from Sky news-The ringleader of a notorious grooming gang was employed as a welfare rights officer by Oldham Council, a major report has revealed.

An independent review said Shabir Ahmed, who led the ***ual abuse ring in Rochdale, was seconded to the Oldham Pakistani Community Centre during his time working for the local authority.

Despite multiple concerns being raised about him and his arrest for the ***ual assault of children, police failed to tell his employers.

"If this had happened, it may have potentially avoided the tragic abuse of other children..." the report states, citing "serious multiple failures" by both GMP and the local authority.

This hot potato and injustice was allowed to happen, to satisfy diversity relations, votes and the girls were sacrificial lambs

I don't care about the previous inquiry, it obviously still didn't go far enough as this out rage is still occurring in some areas today.

Enough is enough and even if Starmer and Cameron have to take the can, so be it.

These animals, behaved like they were still in Pakistan and Bangladesh and British law and officials let them

Even Browns regime needs dragging in.

[B]BBC Radio 4 reported in their PM programme on 19 October 2018 that in 2008, the Home Office sent a circular to all police forces in the country stating: "as far as these young girls who are being exploited in towns and cities, we believe they have made an informed choice about their ***ual behaviour and therefore it is not for police officers to get involved in.[B]

So and 11 year old made an informed choice? This gets worse by the minute

You're right from an effort expended POV MA, but the dissatisfaction in the country (and the partly consequential leaning towards more intolerant attitudes/movements/parties) is not just that action is slow, but that communication/reporting/publicity of such action is buried by the media (at their own instigation or instructed from 'on high' I don't know) which makes slow action look like no action. Discussion about 'us' and 'them' in this regard is becoming more open and widespread, I have started hearing it again in football settings (not insults just discussion) and understand there was some chanting to that effect at Bristol yesterday.

I see a parallel with the Post Office scandal, 'the country' are raging not only at the fact of it, but also the apparent cover up, and they want heads to roll. Likewise the grooming 'scandal' (broadcast media very much not calling it that yet)

I've read reports elsewhere of a group of coked up lads referring to PW as a cnut in chants (must improve my spelling) and generally being anti certain players. Booed Chirewa when he came on.

If the current HMG is now, finally, acting on the report's recommendations, shouldn't we be applauding that as quickly as people have been to condemn other things they've done in the past 6 minths since entering office?

Acting how? It still samcks of a cover up to me. Please bear in mind Starmer was head of PP and it seems to me, that the inquiry avoidance now, will be to protect him/ Brown/Blair and the Labour party. You have to remember, that most of these outrages, happened in labour run boroughs. Votes mattered.

I want it all out, every department that failed to do their jobs and every politician who made sure it was buried.
Thousands of lives ruined, so I aint praising any of them, until they nail some guilty bodies to the wall.

Yes, that's beyond the pale, I don't want to see him in our team but I wish him well when he comes on - too many folk don't 'wear the other fellah's shirt' when they do things like boo them. IMO its totally different to booing the opposition
