The start has been so poor that we really need to be hitting at least 10 points from a 5 game run to stay anywhere near the hunt, and then we have games with Wycombe, Brum and Bolton soon after those. I'm sure someone in NYS has a calculator and realises it's a 2 points a game average from here on to realistically hit the top 6, so they either have faith we will, are waiting for another dip to sack SE, or have settled for L1 next season. Whichever it is, we should know by mid January.
Don't want to gloat, but I did say 8 points got us to 12th or 13th, and three more would have us in 13th.

I also said 10 got us in striking distance, which would have left us 8 points and a GIH off play off spots. Unfortunately the play off teams would now need to go at 1.5 points per game, with us at 2.0 per game to level up by May... and for many others above us to dip too. It's not realistic, and every single loss from here kills the remote chance we'd have if we were bang in form.

It's time to accept that the (utter nonsense) centenary year is our next chance to get up there. Admit defeat, get the best we have pinned down to longer contracts with the promise of building around them, and gradually dispose of the 30-odd year olds who won't serve longer term plans (or put much effort in at all in some cases). Once we accept we're done, it might actually be quite liberating to play with more freedom, less fear of failure, and as though the game can be fun. Get some youth involved too.

I will accept the Trophy in the true spirit it was given.
    And so.
It will stand me in good stead.
It will keep me well fed
    For those that disagree
The Trophy was given to me
And I eat all pies with some bread

Thanks to all the Madsters on this board.

    Up The Millers!!!

If you would like to come down to MillersMad Central, CAM will personally present you with your magnificent trophy ( a life-size replica of SE fashioned out of a variety of Pukka Pies).

    Cheers all round!

    Is Spuddy really the type
    To push nonsensical hype
    His witterings I fear
    Have made it so clear
He's a Speight, purveyor of tripe.
