Rubezic is 25 in March. Hes not some raw kid, hes an experienced pro - or at least he should be.

Its my view that the fundamental flaws we can all see cannot be coached out of him at this stage. Hes an adequate back up, no more than that.

Molloy is clearly a far superior player who reads the game much better and actually has a little pace (another massive issue with Rubezic).

As Ive said before, hes currently just too wee for this league, so he needs to go spend time in the gym and bulk himself up a good bit. If he does that, hes got a chance, if he doesnt, this leagues not for him.

Russell Anderson was forced to play Right Back for a large part of his early career - not his best position for sure.

He also had significantly more ability and developmental potential than Rubezic will ever have.

Rubys a lost cause Im afraid, back up only moving forward.

Im sure Jimmy knows that fine well too.

I can't help but totally disagree. He showed huge progress during our good run. There's no doubting he's regressed since then but there's definitely a player in there. Despite his size and presence, he isn't a natural leader, most people aren't. I agree with Jormungand's sentiment, having leader like Tobers alongside him keeping him in check could be the way forward. Tobers will be experienced enough (unlike Malloy) to read that the long ball will most likely bounce over Rubys head and be able to slot in behind to cover instead of attacking the ball also (like Malloy).

Id be delighted to be proven wrong - wouldnt be the first time - but i just dont see it.

I would also point out that Tobers is 24 - same as Rubezic - yet hes supposed to provide the experience and leadership Ruby needs to play alongside him & cover his mistakes?

    Kind of makes my point.

Tobers is also right footed, same as Ruby, so its not a good balance having those two together.

If anything, the plan must be for Tobers to play alongside the left footed Molloy (granted not right now), so if anything Tobers will replace Ruby, not play with him.

If I was betting though, Id bet that we will be getting another left sided CH in due course too. Maybe not this window, but certainly in the summer.

Just dont see Ruby as Jimmys type of player tbh - clocks ticking for him IMO.

I have to agree with the Moog on the Rubi issue. Don't dislike the loon and you really want him to do well, but just don't see it happening for him. I can see him getting marginally better as he gets older. I do hope I am proven wrong though.

Even during our good run he was still making mistakes every game, but we were getting the results so they weren't being picked up the same as it does when we are having a shyte run.

He is not a ball playing defender and for me that is what Jimmy is looking for, although some journalist on Twitter did a piece about Tobors and apparently he is shyte with the ball at his feet too.

I'm more looking forward to seeing a defender who can actually defend, rather than worry too much about their ball playing skills.

C'mon, you're smarter than to acknowledge age as being the only determining factor when it comes to "footballing experience".
Tobers has something like 80 more professional appearances than Ruby, for example.

I do see your point in who Tobers is most likely to partner up with though. I'm just not ready to write Ruby off completely, he'll be good for us yet.

Genuinely hope you are right min, but Id suggest the reason Tobers has more appearances at the same age will be indicative of the fact hes hopefully just a better player - but is also indicative of the fact that the various major flaws we all see in Ruby have limited various previous managers from being comfortable using him - which I think will be the same here come the end of the season.

Aye unless GASC has inside knowledge think folk are jumping the gun.
Does seem something in it given level media rumour though. Fingers crossed.
