We live very close to areas of huge and frequent forest fires, although thankfully historically not in much direct danger. Maybe UK based posters might not realize the full impact, but it's not only the areas in the direct path of the fires where people suffer badly, although their losses are so devastating, but for hundreds of miles around there is terrible air quality, often thick smoke and visible ash particles. The footprint of these disasters is huge, and large spaces like my gym has had to open its facilities by municipal decree to thousands of refugees from the worst impacted areas every year for the past four. We're happy to help, just to show the impact on so many people. To put it in some kind of context, a forest fire like this in London or Carlisle would make the air in Nottingham horrible and often dangerous to breathe for weeks. Although the sunsets are amazing [shrug]

at least the first post on this doesn't jump straight past the human cost to politicizing the issue, oh wait...

All her life has been about political and community activism before she entered paid politics in 2004. Prior to that, she was a medical assistant. She's now 71.

While in office, she redirected millions of dollars from public services (fire etc.) to helping the homeless.

How do people with no relevant experience get these jobs?

Is she a perfect example of a technocratic appointment?

As they proudly and profusely with pride announce : We only employ Lesbians in the main and gays are favoubly also, no experience needed so long as you are woke and meet the above criteria.

    Oddly enough, they get elected.

I am not underestimating the genuine suffering that this has caused to many innocent people, and I like going to LA as much as anyone, but every cloud has a silver lining, some awful people have also lost their houses.

Take James Woods, who apparently has the biggest dick in Hollywood, it didn't help him put the fire out though. Then there is celebrity antisemite Mel Gibson, who detests the English, God help anyone who is an English Jew, but no amount of blue face paint and baring his arse at it stopped his fire either, although, unlike Woods, he was actually insured.

I believe it's the Mayor that gets elected ,(another lesbian that was in Ghuna whilst people & homes are being burnt), the Mayor hands the fire department to the unqualified to employ more unqualified, = kick backs and people die through poor leadership, a bit like the UK at the moment with young white girls.

I'm left wondering.... why do these lesbians want bushfires? Is it solely about Mel Gibson's house? Or a deeper conspiracy?

Yes it's a conundrum. No right thinking person would want their bush burning, insurance wouldn't help.

One thing I've noticed is that very few of the burned structures were brick, they're nearly all, wooden.
